BooBoo's Story

Hello, I'm BooBoo, a wise older soul looking for a patient human to share my golden years. At 13 years young, I’m a 37 lb Poodle who's learned a thing or two about life…I know what I like and what I don’t. I’m told that’s very Poodle-ish. LOL

Let me start with the car situation. I have an excellent memory, perhaps too excellent, and I remember that cars usually mean trips to the vet or bath time. So yes, I get a bit skittish about car rides. I'm not being difficult – I'm just being cautious based on experience and that I’m probably not going to like what’s coming next! But I go and we get through it. LOL

Speaking of baths and grooming, I'm actually pretty good about it, except when it comes to my face. I prefer a gentle approach there, if you don't mind. I can get a little reactive when people make sudden movements around me, but it's nothing personal – I just like to know what's coming. Once we get into a routine, all is good.

Here's what I absolutely love: affection! I'm not shy about seeking out cuddles and attention from my favorite people. I have so much love to give, and at my age, I don't want to waste time being coy about it. I'm also perfectly content being left alone in the house – I've mastered the art of independent relaxation.

I do have some specific needs that come with my distinguished age. I take joint chews for my arthritis (they taste pretty good, actually), and I'm on a special diet to keep my bladder stones at bay. These little accommodations help keep me feeling my best.

I can get along with other dogs, but I'd appreciate slow introductions – let's take our time getting to know each other. And while I love people, I do better with patient adults rather than unpredictable little ones.

I know I might not be the easiest adoption choice, but I'm hoping there's someone out there who appreciates a mature gentleman with character. I have years of love left to give to the right person who understands that the best relationships are built on patience, respect, and lots of gentle affection.

Could you be my perfect match? Let’s find out…complete an application through the FCCR website, www.floridacockerrescue.org.
ADOPTION FEE: $200
