Bonnie's Story

Name: Bonnie
Nickname : Miss Priss!
Breed: Boxer
Age: 4.5 years
Weight: 88 lbs.
Before OMD: Surrendered to the shelter with her housemate, Clyde. We were able to bring both into rescue when two foster families opened up their homes! Clyde was adopted by his foster family and now it’s Bonnie’s turn to find her forever. Despite that rough start, Bonnie has decided life is good, people are wonderful, and love is absolutely worth chasing (like squirrels… which she also likes to chase, but for different reasons).
Energy Level: Medium. She can play with the best of them but happily melts into a movie-night cuddle puddle
What we love most: How sweet and affectionate she is. Her signature move - she’ll march right up and sit in front of you to politely announce she needs something. If you miss the memo, she follows it up with her famous grumble-moan, which translates roughly to “Excuse me human, I have requests.”
Also: She has a designated kitchen spot where she supervises her foster mom’s cooking just in case a taste-testing opportunity arises. And yes, she is an expert manipulator if you don’t set boundaries (Her Boxer charm is powerful hence her favorite song is obviously Smooth Operator)
Favorite job: Head counter of the household. She must ensure that every family member is home and accounted for, even if that means peeking behind the shower curtain. “Yep… counted!”
Her Favorite Things: Her people. Snuggles. Belly rubs and her famous scratch spot tickled. Family roll call. Baths
Least Favorite Things: Squirrels. Stray cats.
Housebroken: 100%. She is a total pro.
Crate Trained: Not formally, but she’s trustworthy when left alone. She may sneak onto the couch if you forget the baby gate (consider yourself warned).
Dogs: Yes, most likely! She lived with Clyde prior and she gets excited for play when she visits Pet Smart, but also content as the only dog.
Cats: Hard no. She votes for “chase.”
Kids: Not tested with small children yet, but she’s adored everyone she’s met so far.
Ideal Home: Bonnie would thrive in a loving, active home where she can be part of the family’s daily rhythm. Snuggles, playtime, and her very important head-count duties would need to be embraced. Another dog friend might be a bonus, but she’d shine just as brightly as your one-and-only. She’s loyal, affectionate, and eager to please. All she needs is a family who loves her in return.

Bonnie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of IL and CT. If interested, please apply on our website.

Once the application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled between the potential adopter (s) and the dog. If the dog is adopted through One More Dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $500.00 for puppies and adult dogs and $350.00 for senior dogs be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and training.
