Bongo's Story

All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step.
Meet Bongo Bongo is a special boy who has been patiently waiting for someone to give him the second chance he deserves. At approximately 3 years old and around 50 pounds, Bongo is a handsome, stocky guy who appears to be an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. Bongo’s story is a bit of a mystery. He was found as an abandoned dog locally in Derry, NH, and spent two weeks in animal control waiting for someone to come looking for him—but no one ever did. His microchip was registered in Tennessee, leaving us wondering how this sweet boy made his way all the way to New England. What we do know is that Bongo is a smart, active dog with plenty of personality! He walks wonderfully on leash and knows some commands. Like many smart dogs, he will test his boundaries and can be mouthy with people who allow him to jump up or get away with behaviors he shouldn’t. He does best with confident, experienced adults who will provide him with structure, consistency, and clear boundaries. Bongo would prefer to be the only pet in the home and would do best with older children. He is looking for an adult home that understands his personality and will appreciate the loyal, intelligent, and unique dog he is. Bongo may not be the perfect match for every home—but for the right person, he could be an incredibly rewarding companion. ❤ï ̧ Could you be Bongo’s forever family?

All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped.
The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only.
