Bonded Pair's Story

JASMINE & DRACO — BONDED MOTHER & SON DUO

Fostered in Newmarket area

Jasmine: 5 years old (female) Mom
Weight: 10.7 kg
Birthday: September 14, 2021
Origin: Rescued from Egypt
Breed: European Village Dog (Embark DNA tested)

Draco: 4 years old (male) Son
Weight: 6.9 kg
Birthday: July 12, 2022
Origin: Rescue-born
Breed: European Village Dog (mom) with Morkie (dad)

** they know their names well (have had them for 4 years) and have great recall so we do not believe a name change would be in their best interests **

TWICE THE LOVE, ONE FOREVER HOME!

Meet Jasmine and Draco, a beautiful mother-and-son duo who are truly best friends! These two share an incredibly special bond, finding comfort, confidence, and happiness in each other’s company. They have spent their lives together, and they must be adopted together and can never be separated. They aren’t just companions; they’re each other’s family.

JASMINE’S INCREDIBLE JOURNEY

Jasmine’s story began in Egypt, where she was rescued while pregnant and brought to Canada to begin a new chapter in 2022. Once she arrived at our rescue, she gave birth to eight beautiful puppies, including her beloved son, Draco. All other puppies have since been adopted into loving homes (in pairs), and their dad also found his forever home through our rescue!

Their dad is a Morkie, a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier and a Maltese. Jasmine’s Embark DNA testing identified her as a European Village Dog, but she has the adorable appearance of a West Highland Terrier.

Now that her puppies have grown up and found families of their own, Jasmine and Draco are still together, sharing the special bond that has always been at the heart of their lives. We are determined to find them a home where they can continue their journey side by side, just as they always have.

PERSONALITY & COMPATIBILITY

Jasmine and Draco have grown up around children, dogs, and cats, making them wonderful candidates for a family home with other animals. They are good with all three!

They can occasionally chase cats playfully or bark at them, so they would do best with dog-savvy cats who won’t be bothered by their antics. Their current feline friends simply rub up against them and carry on with their day!

Jasmine is particularly agile and absolutely LOVES to run! She would be happiest with plenty of opportunities to stretch her legs, explore, and enjoy the outdoors.

They're very affectionate and will give constant kisses and cuddles any chance they get. Theyre friendly with everyone they meet & get compliments from everyone, everywhere they go, about how cute and beautiful they are! They are leash trained (typically walked with a martingale collar as they are escape artists and can slip right out of a harness). A securely fenced in yard with no gaps underneath would be ideal.

THEIR IDEAL HOME

These two would thrive in a home with a large, securely fenced yard where they can run, play, and enjoy life together. They are not suited to apartment or condo living and would be happiest with space to explore and burn off their energy.

GOOD TO KNOW

* Fully crate trained
* Puppy-pad trained and trained to go outdoors
* Non-shedding
* Require regular brushing and professional grooming at least every three months to prevent matting
* Eat regular kibble
* Vaccinated, sterilized, and microchipped
* No health concerns noted by their veterinarian

Jasmine does need a dental cleaning (only for tartar build up), which will be included in her adoption fee if completed at our partner veterinary clinic in Mississauga.

ONE BOND. TWO HEARTS. ONE FOREVER HOME.

Jasmine has already overcome so much, travelling from Egypt while pregnant and raising eight puppies in rescue.

We are searching for a loving, committed family who understands that these two are a package deal. They bring twice the love, twice the companionship, and a lifetime of memories waiting to be made.

They started their journey together in rescue. Please help us make sure they finish it together in a forever home.

Adoption fee is $800 for both.

Apply using this link or copy and paste it into your browser: https://form.jotform.com/211694512438255

Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
*Fostering is sort of like pet-sitting. We provide supplies & cover necessary vetting of the animals as they are still under our rescue care but you provide a home for them to live in until they are adopted. *foster-to-adopt is basically adoption but you have a 2 week trial period before fully committing to adoption. This is a great way to ensure you and the animal are a good fit for one another. We do not provide supplies to foster-to-adopt families. There are specific circumstances where we cannot offer the foster-to-adopt option. for instance, if you do not live near our partner vets. *Note: in both cases, if any vetting is required, we will cover the expenses as long as the animals are seen by our partner vet in Mississauga, ON, on occasion we have availability at a vet clinic in Aurora, ON. Q: how does the adoption process work? We require an adoption application to be filled out, then we carry out a Phone interview + home/yard tour virtually, then a reference check, and finally, a legally-binding contract. We do not take rehoming an animal lightly and thus, must ensure they are not going to be rehomed again or experience any further trauma.
