Meet Bodie

Bodie is a good boy who loves everyone. He likes other polite dogs, but is hesitant in new situations.

With a birthday in June 2019, he's almost an adult, but still has some puppy playfulness. Bodie weighs about 62 lb at his vet exam in June 2020. He loves to run when playing. He didn't bother his previous foster's chickens, but they're separated by a fence. He's in a foster home with cats - he'll bark at the crabby one, and will play chase-the-cat if they'll oblige, he usually leaves them alone, though.

Bodie is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. He'll go to the door when he has to go out, but should be taken out every hour the first few days in a new home to establish that he may need to wait before going out. He objects with vigorous barking to being crated the first few nights in a new foster home. Once he understands the bedtime routine and knows he'll get out when his people wake up or return home, he accepts crating - especially if a few good treats are tossed in ahead of him.

He'll pull on the leash, particularly if he sees something interesting, but in familiar surroundings is not a puller. He likes to ride in cars and play with toys - balls, tugs, and squeaky toys are his favorites. He will take them apart, so sturdy toys are advisable :) He sometimes barks at strangers and always when someone comes to the door. He's learning to stop when redirected. He would do well in a home with a single mom or female. His bark is pretty intimidating to strangers.

Bodie behaves similarly to a teenager who wants to be allowed freedoms that aren't permitted, so they argue with those in charge. He needs a home that is experienced and able to firmly redirect this behavior. He's so affectionate and goofy that it's sometimes hard to reprimand him. We've decided Bodie's related to the dog in the video "Dog Wants a Kitty" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI4yoXyb1_M].

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we usually have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. We suggest first time pet owners look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience.

Adoption fee covers two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our local low-cost spay/neuter clinic (overnight stay required) and surgery occurs as agreed upon in the adoption contract. Convenience fee equal to refundable spay/neuter deposit may be added if using our veterinarian. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply.

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. We receive no funding from agencies. Available animals can be seen most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend interested parties contact us to pre-qualify for adoption so their new furry family can go home once paperwork is complete. Fees are required in cash. For more information on our organization, our website is www.petpartnersrescue.org.
