Bo's Story
Bo is a 5-year-old boy that came to rescue in December of 2024. He was found as a stray at that time and had a major skin issue. He was in a crowded and loud shelter and was most likely going to be euthanized if a rescue did not take him in. We said yes, for sure we will help him. He was vetted and found a home with an owner that was willing to do the necessary medication and food to keep him on a healthy journey.
Fast Forward a year and we got a call that he is not doing well, and we went to check on him, and the adopter was not using the dog food recommended and was not giving him his meds as needed to help him with his allergies.
Even though we advocate for dogs and make sure our adopters understand the process of the specific dogs’ needs, every now and then one just does not work out.
We brought him back to rescue and he now has gotten back to a point where he is looking very dapper. He does have allergies and is on a specific food which he does well on, he also gets a cytopoint allergy shot monthly and gets allergy medication daily.
He is now looking for his new furever home. He is kennel trained, is doing well on potty training now that the weather has been nice, he is good around other dogs and LOVES to go for walks, which is his favorite thing to do. If you can care for a dog that needs medication daily and a vet visit once a month, please fill out an application for adoption at www.nebraskadachshundrescue.org and we will be in touch with you and get a meet set up for you and Bo.

All our dogs are current on vaccinations which include Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella. They are spayed and or neutered, have been fecal tested and heartworm tested, and had a dental cleaning if necessary. They are all on heartworm and flea/tick preventative as needed in rescue. They all will have a microchip that will be registered in the adopter's name and is good for a lifetime with no additional fees.

The adoption process is an application, a vet reference, a home inspection, and a lifetime contract. The requested adoption donation for all our dogs is $400.

We do not REQUIRE a fenced in yard (some dogs do not require a fence, if they can walk well on harness and leash. This is decided by what is best for each dog individually.)

We are willing to adopt to out-of-state applicants, but you must travel to the foster home location of your dog which is in Omaha or within a 90-minute drive from the Omaha area to meet and travel home with your dog. We do not transport or ship dogs.

If you are interested in adding this beautiful baby to your loving family, please visit our website and fill out an adoption application at http://www.nebraskadachshundrescue.org/adoptapp.htm
The adoption fee is $400.
