Blueberry's Story

Meet Blueberry!

Blueberry’s story could have ended very differently. She came to us after landing in the emergency room suffering from severe heat stroke. She was incredibly sick and, honestly, she almost didn’t make it. Thankfully, Blueberry pulled through, and today she is ready for the second chance she fought so hard for.

Blueberry has made an amazing recovery. She is now spayed, fully vaccinated, and up to date on her vetting. She is a sweet, sensitive little girl who can be anxious, but with time, patience, and Prozac, she has been making wonderful progress.

Blueberry is not an adventurous girl—and she’s perfectly okay with that! She would much rather curl up on the couch, stay close to home, and enjoy the air conditioning. She has started doing well with short walkies, but she isn’t looking for a family who wants to take her on endless hikes or adventures. She is a couch potato at heart.

We think Blueberry would benefit from having a calm, confident dog in the home to help show her the ropes and give her some reassurance. She has done well in her foster home and is crate trained.

Blueberry is a bulldog mix, and because of her history with heat stroke, she is sensitive to heat. We are looking for an experienced adopter who understands the needs of short-nosed breeds and is prepared to be mindful of temperature and exercise. Bulldog, Frenchie, or other brachycephalic breed experience is strongly preferred.

Blueberry is approximately 1–2 years old, and after everything she has been through, we want nothing more than to see her land in a loving, patient, forever home.

If you’re an experienced dog owner looking for a sweet little couch companion who would prefer Netflix and AC over hiking and adventure, Blueberry might just be your girl.

Experienced dog owners only. Bulldog/Frenchie experience strongly preferred.

Children over 10 years old.

Please apply at luckydogrefuge.com and we will reach out to you to schedule a meet and greet!

Lucky Dog Refuge's Adoption Policy
Generally, puppies and adult dogs have an adoption fee of $600; senior dogs have an adoption fee of $350. However some dogs may have a higher adoption fees based on the extent of their training or other factors. We also may have "legacy dogs" whose higher fee help offset the medical costs of some of our emergency cases. Fees are set at the discretion of the rescue. The adoption fees covers only a portion of the expense the rescue spends on the medical care, housing, and transport of each rescue dog; the rest is covered through fundraising efforts. - The first step towards adoption is to complete an adoption application, which can be found online at our website www.LuckyDogRefuge.com, under the “Apply Now” tab or at https://forms.gle/LXKMKSnagxLSad668. - Do NOT use the Petfinder links or email to ask us about our adoptable dog listings - we do not always receive these messages and will not respond to them.
