Blitz (pug/Boston terrier) WAIVED ADOPTION FEE's Story
STATE: near Hartford,CT
AGE: 3 years
WEIGHT: 27 lbs
ADOPTION FEE: WAIVED

10/11/26-Blitz continues to be an amazing dog. He loves cuddles & his chewing bones, he has also become fond of long explorations in the fenced in yard & rolling in grass. He is also regularly responding when his name is called. He’s leash trained, crate trained, housebroken with the dog door but I put on a belly band when i’m not home. Blitz still is talking up a storm, at first it may sound like a growl, but he's not flashing teeth & he is doing this when is super happy. So cute! We love the “talkers”! Also his adoption fee is now fully sponsored in hopes to help him finally find his new home!

9/10/26-Blitz ignored the cats at the local pet supply store, so he would probably be ok with dog savvy cats.

8/3/26-Blitz is doing amazing. After awhile in foster care he has settled down beautifully. He still enjoys a little wrestling with the pugs in the house & loves his toys, but he no longer has to move constantly. He does enjoy the wide range of toys we have from antlers, to tennis balls to fluffies. He enjoys snuggling in bed or on the couch with his humans.

7/13/26-Blitz continues to reveal his amazing loving, active puppy self every day. He recently went to a celebration for pets at local pet supply store, with vendors, small crowd, families, lots of people. Great news, Blitz is super mellow, great with kids of all ages, total strangers, strange dogs & crowds. Blitz loved every moment of it, he made friends with 4yr old boy who was determined to feed him treats ( Blitz took treats from his little hand perfectly), he wanted pets from everyone, interacted well with every dog he came across. With the exception of him trying to walk out with an unpaid pigs ear he did amazing. Lol

7/9/26-Hi, I'm Blitz, I am an amazing pug cross who loves all humans. I like hanging out with my pug friends and my foster Mom, it makes me happy. I love to be active getting belly rubs & running around the house. I can even use a doggie door to let myself in and out. Sometimes I stay with the pugs here, other times I wander off by myself. I've been sleeping on the big bed with everyone & LOVE IT! I am working on House training, but it's a work in progress. No toy or food guarding here. The first night I picked up a toy, looked at everyone, no one reacted, so I put it down. Did that multiple times waiting for someone to react, no one has. Lol I can have a bit of anxiety, but being able to stay active, surrounded by at least 1 other dog (or a pack, or a person) who is calm makes me forget I even have anxiety. I went to pet supply store & I was super social with everyone. I’ll be working on meeting other dogs in social settings & kids this week, I'll let you know how I do.

7/8/26-Trying to put together what first foster home experienced and what we are seeing from Blitz now at my house which is totally different. Blitz is an active dog with some anxiety & would do well with a fenced in yard. He is super social with humans and my pugs (all of whom are smaller than him), still need to test him out with random dogs & cats. He needs to be "engaged" whether that is with an active family that has a schedule with someone who works from home, or a house that has a balanced pack, or even just 1 dog who is not a domineering alpha who he can play second fiddle to all day. Sitting in a crate for long periods will not work for him. He is not resource guarding if no one else is, not food aggressive. But....likes to bark if someone else is, likes to run around when everyone else is (even if he doesn't know at what), he seems to like the reassurance of the others.

7/7/26-Blitz was having some high anxiety issues at his foster home & we couldnt determine why, so he moved to a new foster home today. He is doing great already & when his original foster home left him they said Blitz was the calmest theyve ever seen him. They also said it was absolutely amazing & clearly the right place for him to wait for his forever home.

7/3/26-Blitz is doing great after his neuter surgery! He has finished his medication and has officially started eating full meals. Huge progress! He has also mastered the doggie door... mostly by chasing foster Scruffy in and out of it several times. Lol Apparently, Scruffy makes an excellent teacher & chase buddy. Blitz is still quite anxious & has a whole lot of love & energy to share, so weve decided to give him some scheduled downtime in an x-pen. It gives Blitz a chance to decompress & gives everyone else a much-needed little break.

7/2/26-Blitz absolutely adores foster boy Scruffy & loves kids too! He enjoys being part of the action & would be happiest in a home where he has plenty of opportunities to play. Like many dogs, Blitz is still learning that toys & bones dont always need to be guarded. While hes wonderful with children, hed likely do best with older, dog-savvy kids who understand canine body language and can respect his space around high-value items. Blitz responds well to gentle correction (including a quick spritz from a water bottle) & generally respects the pack leaders guidance, although he isnt afraid to test the boundaries now & then. Since hes only recently been neutered, hes still working through the effects of those lingering hormones, which can contribute to some of his behavior. Since his surgery, there have been two incidents where Blitz growled when he believed our daughter was reaching for a bone he was guarding. Hes currently on medication, and were continuing to work with him on these behaviors. His energy level is very high! Blitz would love a canine companion who enjoys playing. He seems to prefer a more submissive playmate, as hed very much like to be in charge. Blitz is still settling in & has quite a bit of anxiety. He rarely slows down long enough to nap or truly relax, so were hopeful that as he continues to decompress, hell become more comfortable & confident. His appetite is still a work in progress. Since arriving, hes eaten only small amounts of kibble. Were fairly certain he enjoyed plenty of table food in his previous home, but thats not part of the menu here. We discovered he loves plain Greek yogurt, so weve been mixing a little into his kibble. He happily licks off the yogurt and will reluctantly eat a few pieces of kibble afterward. The good news is that hes drinking plenty of water & despite eating less than wed like, his energy certainly hasnt suffered! Hes also finished his post-surgery medications, so were hopeful that his appetite will continue to improve over the coming days.

7/1/26-Blitz is recovering well from his neuter! Hes supposed to be taking it easy while he heals, but clearly no one explained that to Blitz. Even with a little medication to help keep him calm, hes still full of energy and ready for action. At the moment, hes patiently (or as patiently as Blitz can manage) waiting for foster boy Scruffy to wake up from his nap on my lap so they can get back to playing. These two are quickly becoming the best of friends!

6/30/26-Blitz is back from his neuter yesterday & doing great! Youd never know he just had surgery. Hes full of energy and feeling pretty anxious, but thats understandable. He wasnt with us for long before his procedure, so he really hasnt had the chance to decompress & settle in. Despite all the changes he’s incredibly sweet & affectionate. Loves to play & gives the gentlest little kisses. He still has some nervous, anxious energy, but were hopeful that will fade as he realizes hes safe & more time to adjust. Also met our other foster Scruffy today & was very eager to play, but Scruffy wasnt interested in joining the fun just yet. Hopefully, with a little more time together, theyll become best buddies.

6/28/26-Blitz absolutely loves kids! He had a wonderful time playing fetch in the yard with our 4yr old neighbor. Was such a good boy bringing the ball right back every time & keeping all 4 paws on the ground. What a gentleman! Hes great with our 10yr old daughter & was very happy to greet her this morning when she woke up. Its pretty clear hes enjoyed a little human food in his past. Whenever someone is eating he gets very excited & sits as handsomely as possible, hoping you’ll share a bite. His 1st night was a little rough & didnt get much rest, waking up about every 15 minutes. When someone got up in the middle of the night, it startled him, he was shaking like a leaf. Poor sweet boy. He needed lots of reassurance before he was finally able to settle down for a little while. He ate a bit more at breakfast this morning. Wondering if he may have been more of a grazer in his previous home, so were giving him time to adjust at his own pace. Hes been invited onto the couch, but so far he hasnt chosen to settle there. Maybe he wasnt allowed on furniture in his previous home, so he hasnt been able to settle down on the couch or in bed. When its time to rest, he seems happiest stretched out on the cool floor next to one of the dog beds. Every hour hes becoming a little more comfortable & its been so rewarding to watch his personality begin to shine through. Hes relaxing & showing his belly!!

6/27/26-This handsome 3yr old pug (may be a little Boston Terrier mixed in) arrived today after being surrendered to a local shelter stating owner had no time for him. So far he’s been busy checking out his new surroundings & settling in with the pug pack. Happy to report he’s fitting in wonderfully! Even spent some time in yard playing ball with our 10yr old child & neighbors 4yr old & had an absolute blast. Now he isnt quite the gentleman just yet. Lol Theres been plenty of leg lifting as he gets acquainted with his new home, but Monday he’ll be neutered & we’re hopeful that will help him leave some of those bachelor habits behind. For now, hes decompressing, making new friends & starting his journey toward finding the perfect forever family.
