Blaze Springfield's Story
Meet Blaze — A Gentle Soul Looking for His Forever Home!

Blaze is a 3-year-old Standard Poodle weighing approximately 45 pounds, and he is proof that some of the sweetest souls just need a little time to feel safe.

Blaze came into rescue as part of a hoarding case, severely underweight and with a coat that was so painfully matted that he needed to be shaved down. His past may not have given him the best start, but we're determined to make sure his future is filled with love, patience, and all the comforts every dog deserves.

Now it's Blaze's turn to find his people!

This handsome boy is making great progress with potty and crate training. He's a polite, well-mannered gentleman with other dogs and absolutely loves having canine companions around. In fact, we believe Blaze would truly thrive in a home with another friendly, confident dog to help show him the ropes and give him the reassurance he needs.

Blaze is shy when meeting new people, so he's looking for a family who understands that trust isn't built overnight. He doesn't shy away from affection once he gets to know you, but he needs time to feel comfortable enough to let his guard down.

You've probably heard of the 3-3-3 rule for rescue dogs: three days to decompress, three weeks to begin settling in, and three months to really feel at home. Blaze is a perfect example of why patience matters. You'll likely catch little glimpses of his personality sooner, especially with another dog around. And when that little nubby tail starts popping up, you'll know you're seeing more of the real Blaze shining through!

And what a sweet boy he is! Blaze is good with dogs, cats, and children. He has no food aggression or resource-guarding tendencies. He's simply a gentle, sensitive pup who needs someone willing to meet him where he is and celebrate every little milestone along the way.

Since coming into rescue, Blaze has been neutered, brought up to date on his vaccinations, started on heartworm prevention, and tested heartworm negative. We're also working on helping him gain the weight he needs to be healthy and strong.

After everything this boy has been through, he's finally getting the chance to start fresh. Now he just needs a family willing to give him the time, security, and love to blossom.

Blaze isn't looking for a perfect home. He's looking for a patient one. A home with a furry friend, kind humans, and the understanding that the best relationships are sometimes the ones that take a little longer to build.

If you have room in your heart for a sweet, shy Standard Poodle who just needs someone to believe in him, Blaze might be your perfect match.

Interested in adopting Blaze? Email onceuponaprayerrescue@gmail.com to inquire.

Blaze's tax-deductible adoption fee is $600. He will go home with two bowls, some food, a copy of all his microchip information, a toy, a collar, a leash, and a harness if you prefer a harness.

Please remember: earning Blaze's trust may take time, but watching him discover that he's finally home will be worth every second.

Once Upon A Prayer Pet Rescue — Because every dog deserves a second chance at forever.
