Blaze - In Foster (Lonely Hearts Club)'s Story

***Blaze is a member of the Lonely Hearts Club. This means his adoption fee has been discounted! If you would like to meet Blaze, please feel free to reach out and we will set up a time!***

Blaze is a 4 year old Boxer. He is a neutered male and up to date on his vaccines!
Blaze was surrendered to HSHP due to his previous owners having some health issues that forced them to make the tough choice to rehome him. Since being at HSHP, Blaze began to decline mentally. This was caused by a lot of factors such as the reduced attention he was used to, being surrounded by multiple dogs, and the constant flow of strange humans staring at him through kennel bars.
To help him bounce back, one of the HSHP staff members decided to foster him at her house.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
- After being neutered, he is entering his mellow boy era.
- Can be pushy and rough, but knows to stop when he is told sternly.
- Prefers women, but does like men as well.
- LOVES children of all ages, but it would be best if he didn't live with super young ones. But he does wonderful with them most of the time.
- Would be best as the only dog in the home. We believe he would accept a puppy and we will try it ourselves if we ever get the opportunity to.
- He can live with cats, but he does have moments where he wants to play with them and we would suggest not encouraging him to play. He does chase stray cats, though if he manages to catch one he doesn't know what to do and lets them run away.
- He is housetrained. Prefers to have a room rather than be kept in a kennel, but with gentle guidance can relearn to accept a crate.
- Is a HUGE cuddle bug and must sleep in the bed right next to you.
- He is guardian breed. He will bark loudly at anyone he doesn't know when they are approaching the house and coming through the door. Doesn't last long and calms down.
- Will become very pushy and rough when he wants to play with his toys. We are working on this.
- DO NOT GIVE HIM CHICKEN. HE WILL HAVE A BAD STOMACH REACTION.

Here is some words from Blaze's foster mom:

"Blaze is a great dog. If you are familiar with the Boxer breed or breeds similar to the Boxer, then you will be in absolute love with this boy. He is the biggest baby who just wants to be right next to you. He loves to sleep in and is more lazy than he is energetic. He follows me everywhere I go and just loves to watch me. There are times when Blaze can be a little much, but once you learn how to communicate with him, he is very respectful and will stop. He is stunning, he is funny, he is smart, he is snuggly, he is just wonderful. If you are genuinely curious about Blaze, please just reach out! I will happily tell you all about him! He has been absolutely wonderful for me and I have no problem waiting as long as it takes for the perfect adopter(s) to come along."
