Black Beauty Labrador Retriever & Pit Bull Terrier Mix Hopkinton, MA

Meet Black Beauty! She is about 6 months old, 45 pounds, and may have some lab/terrier in her mix given her looks. In her foster home she is house trained, crate trained and living with other dogs and respectful children. Black Beauty is a bit shy when alone, but warms up quickly with the help of treats and the company of other dogs. She MUST go to a home that has a physically fenced in yard, as she is still timid and shy when walking on leash, as well as one that has another resident dog of similar age/energy who likes to play. She could also join a home with a confident/dog savvy cat and/or kids 10+.

Her foster says: "We just love this sweet girl! A bit shy when she first got here, she has warmed up to us so nicely. Watching her gain confidence and master things like climbing the stairs and getting on the couch, have brought us such joy! She loves our two dogs and wants nothing more than to be their bff. When playing and interacting with them, she is in a constant state of wiggle! Highly food and treat motivated, she breaks out her best ‘sit' anytime she thinks she's going to get something yummy. She's also incredibly smart and such a good listener. She has quickly learned several cues and will be so much fun to continue training with. One of the cutest things about her is her love of toys. She found our toy bin in no time and enjoys taking out all of her favorite ones and bringing them back to her dog bed to play with. We could go on and on about how amazing Black Beauty is and how much we love her. She will make a wonderful addition to the right forever home. She is so deserving!"

She is available to meet by appointment with an approved adopter in Hopkinton, MA. Please fill out an application as a first step.

Adopters will be home for most of the day (beyond the COVID quarantine period), to provide opportunities for daily, positive new experiences with people and other dogs, as well as life skills through training. Enrolling in a puppy training class with a certified, positive reinforcement dog trainer is required. Adopters are encouraged to commit to training beyond the initial required class.
