Bixby's Story
DOB: 4/28/2022
Weight: 17#

Bixby was dumped and running the streets before being picked up. He is either a "Harlequin Pinscher" which is a rat terrier/miniature pinscher mix. Or he is a purebred rat terrier. He looks identical to my blue miniature pinscher aside from the coloring. You can always do a dna test on him to find out. I've had rat terrier people tell me that he is a purebred rat terrier.

He is vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed, neutered, microchipped with lifetime registration to the rescue, heartworm negative (1/28/25) and on monthly prevention.

Bixby's front leg is a little crooked with a "malunion". Essentially, it was broken at one time and the bones fused incorrectly. He had a consult with an orthopedic specialist to determine what was going on. It doesn't really slow him down though.

He's a nice boy. Very playful, likes to rough house and playing great with a group of the larger minpins. He's good on walks and in the car. He's crate trained and pretty good in the house as long as he's kept on a schedule. He should be ok as an only dog or with a doggie playmate. He has a pretty high prey drive though and would be best without cats and teacup sized dogs that look like rats/squirrels.

He's been adopted and returned and so needs a rescue friendly house that will allow him to adjust as he's already been abandoned and let down by many humans in his short life. Once he settles in, he's a nice little guy.

Bixby's adoption fee is $400
If you are interested in adopting, please cut and paste the link below to fill out an adoption application:

https://form.jotform.com/92916416469165

After the application is processed and approved, a home visit and meet and greet with the dogs will be scheduled. If there are any fencing issues, make sure that repairs are done prior to the home visit. Typically, the adoption is finalized the day after the home visit and meet and greet. Out of area adopters would need to drive/fly in to meet the dogs and adopt.
