Bixby's Story

Bixby is a sweet, little, 33 pound mixed breed guy who is around 2 years old. He joined MHCR from Houston, TX where he was picked up as a stray.

Bixby arrived very spunky and eager for life, but he was limping significantly and clearly in pain in his right shoulder. It was discovered that he had an OCD lesion (osteochondritis dessicans). Bixby went to see the orthopedic specialist to have his shoulder scoped to remove the lesion, which was the source of his pain. He did beautifully and is making a full recovery. You would never know this happy, busy little guy had any setbacks. He’s been eager to leave his past in the dust and loves living life to the fullest. Now he just needs to find a forever family to love.

Bixby is the sort of dog who wants to be your best friend, shadow, and be doing whatever you are. He is full of personality, playful, sweet, social, and LOVES all the food and snacks. He will do best with a family that is home a good amount and can give him a predictable routine with playtime and lots of snuggles and belly rubs mixed in. Bixby walks decently on a leash, is hard at work on housetraining, is crate trained (but he much prefers to be on someone’s lap or furniture 🤣) and is all about living his best life! He also likes to play with other dogs! Bix is being treated for a low-grade heartworm infection.

Bixby is being fostered in Fort Collins, Colorado.

*We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs.*

You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/bixby/.

You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
