Bitsy's Story

Bitsy
1 year, 5lbs
Rescued from the southwest after her owner became too busy to care for her

Meet Bitsy! This tiny girl has big dog confidence packed into the smallest package. She greets every person, dog, and new situation with a happy tail wag and genuine curiosity — she loves ALL people and ALL dogs, and makes friends on literally every walk. She's medium-to-high energy and endlessly social, though she also knows how to settle: left alone, she'll happily chill in her dog bed, and she's already learned to sit (er, lay down — close enough for day one!) in under 24 hours. She takes her self-appointed job as guard dog very seriously, which is honestly pretty adorable for someone her size.

Bitsy is a certified velcro dog — she wants to be wherever her people are, follows them from room to room, and loves nothing more than being held like a baby. She's already making progress on potty training (with walks every 1-1.5 hours to help her along) and is food-motivated, which makes her a fast, eager learner — she picked up stair-climbing on day one and is already working on tricks. She'd thrive in a moderate-to-active home with someone willing to put in the training time with this smart little sponge of a puppy; she's great in apartments, easy to travel with, and just as happy with a canine sibling as she would be as an only dog. Her foster describes her as brave, loving, and endlessly curious — a tiny, confident girl who's discovering the joys of cuddling and just wants to be part of the pack, wherever that pack happens to be.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Bitsy, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
