*PETFINDER INQUIRIES SENT THROUGH PETFINDER WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION INSTEAD*
**CLICK SHOW MORE AND READ ALL WAY TO END"

Meet Beautiful Biscuit-Illinois, a 3 year old male Doxiepoo (Miniature Dachshund and Poodle mix), who is in a foster home in Mahomet, Illinois near Champaign, Illinois.

*Please read ALL the information in Biscuit's listing before applying to ensure you understand what he needs to be successful in his new home.

*Please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Biscuit, please email us at rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.
*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for him. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.
*You can check the status of his adoption at https://www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change his status to adopted when he is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers & have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Biscuit before we will schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs.

*AGE: 3 years old (born May 2023)

*WEIGHT: 17 lbs. and at his ideal weight!

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence & yard are required. No electronic or invisible fences will be allowed as we do not think he would be successful with those.

*COAT TYPE: Mixed soft and fluffy coat with loose curls; he has a light shedding coat that doesn't seem prone to matting. You should be prepared to have him groomed regularly (every 6-8 weeks) with an estimated cost of $100/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: Biscuit is so fun! He is a Velcro dog with low energy most of the day. He has bouts of playfulness throughout the day. He gets very excited on car rides and walks.

*DOGS: Biscuit LOVES dogs!! He has two dogs in his foster home (13 lbs and 36 lbs), and he does great with them. He does growl when he plays with toys and other dogs, which can be off-putting to new playmates; he is just ‘talking’ and we don’t think this is aggressive behavior. He loves to play chase with his foster dog siblings in the backyard. Biscuit would not do well in a home with aggressive dogs as he is very submissive, and it wouldn't set him up for success.

*CATS: No cats in his foster home, and he has been untested around cats in his foster home. He got along with cats in his previous home.

*KIDS: Yes! He loves kids! His foster home has three kids (5, 8 & 14). He loves to snuggle and play with them. His foster home has lots of neighbor kids coming in and out every day, and he gets excited to see everyone. Biscuit does "jump" up on people when he's excited. We are working on sitting for pets and love.

*CAR: Biscuit LOVES the car and sticking his head out the window. He uses a seatbelt leash in the foster's car to keep him from moving around. If allowed, he would prefer to sit on a lap in the car.

*CRATE: He has not used a crate in his foster home or previous home. We think the crate stresses him too much.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! He has had NO accidents in his foster home. Biscuit will stand by the door when he is ready to go out. He likes it when his people come outside with him while he goes potty.

*LEASH: Biscuit needs some leash training. He doesn't walk straight and barks at othim dogs. He really wants to meet everyone while on our walk! When walking with his foster dog siblings, he will walk straight and follow their lead.

* AT THE VET: Biscuit was very friendly to all the staff and was even more excited to get a treat. He was not nervous during his exam, but was unsure about the scale.

*WITH GROOMING: Biscuit had his nails trimmed at the vet and did great. His foster mom bathed him at home, and he was the best boy! He stood in the tub and let him wash him. He doesn't seem to be afraid of the hair dryer eithim!

Biscuit is a sweet male Doxiepoo who was surrendered to IDOG by a family who loved him very much but had to rehome him because of a family member's medical issues. He loves his people and would thrive in a home where he is your constant companion. A family where someone is retired or works from home would be a great fit for him. He loves to snuggle and follow his person around. Car rides and walks are great, and snuggling is his absolute favorite. Biscuit needs some basic training to learn manners. He is very treat-motivated and will be a quick student! He wants to make his people proud!

A daily walk would be great for Biscuit. He is a Velcro dog and loves to be at your side, snuggling. He will bring you his favorite toy when he is ready to play. He likes to play tug-of-war and fetch. Biscuit would be okay as the only dog in the house as long as he is not left for long periods. He loves dogs, but people are his favorite!

Biscuit has a little separation anxiety when he is left alone. He is not destructive and does not have accidents. When we return home, he cries and whines and likes to be held like a baby.

He is so sweet and gentle with everyone he meets. Biscuit lets the kids pet and hold him. He loves to snuggle and be loved. When you hold him, he loves to lay his head on your shoulder like he's hugging you! He stands by the door when he needs to go outside to potty. Biscuit has had no accidents while in his foster home. He is always ready to play and go when you are! He carries his toy over to you when he wants to play! He is very treat-motivated and ready to learn. He loves to chew on bones and enjoys lick mats. He can sit and will stay for a short period. He loves car rides and being outside with his person!

Biscuit can be territorial with his bones and chew toys. He growls at the other dogs if they come near if he's not in a playing mood. He may growl when he plays, and it can be startling to new dog friends. He is not aggressive and does not nip when he plays. He does bark when someone comes to the door or when we walk past another dog on a walk. He whines and cries when you get home after he's been left alone. He needs love and snuggles once you're back!

Adjectives that describe Biscuit:
Loving
Velcro
Calm
Gentle
Playful
Confident
Snuggly
Anxious
Submissive
Affectionate

Activities he enjoys:
*tug
*fetch
*walking
*chew toys
*car rides
*cuddling
*meeting new people
*playing with othim dogs
*being next to his humans

Biscuit is neutered, microchipped & is up to date on core vaccines. His fecal and heartworm tests were negative and he is current on heartworm/flea tick preventives.

ADOPTION FEE: $595

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are very high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR BISCUIT-ILLINOIS, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application
