She was trying to survive alone on the streets. When a volunteer spotted her in the parking lot of a gas station, her back legs were trembling from the cold, and she knew she had to bring her to safety.<br/>Since coming into rescue, Birdie has shown us nothing but resilience despite the hardships she has likely endured for a very long time.<br/><br/>Despite everything she has been through, Birdie continues to love people and soak up affection every chance she gets.<br/><br/>Birdie is approximately 2 years old, weighs 54 pounds, and is believed to be a German Shepherd mix.<br/><br/> -House trained<br/>- Crate trained<br/> -Leash trained (gentle walker)<br/> -Loves car rides<br/>- Loves children and people of all ages<br/>-Excellent recall<br/> -Great off leash<br/> -Not an escape artist<br/><br/>Birdie is the type of dog who simply wants to be near her people and be included as part of a loving family. She has excellent recall and does very well off leash in appropriate settings. Rather than wandering off, Birdie prefers to stay close to her people and check in frequently. Her loyal nature makes her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a dog that genuinely wants to be by their side.<br/><br/>She deserves more than survival. She deserves comfort. Stability. A soft bed. A family that accepts her exactly as she is.<br/><br/>Birdies Ideal Home<br/><br/>Birdie would thrive in a retirement home or a household where her people are home the majority of the day. She loves companionship and truly enjoys being close to her humans.
