Since coming into rescue, Birdie has shown us nothing but resilience despite the pain she’s likely lived with for a very long time.<br/><br/>Birdie is approximately 2 years old, weighs 54 pounds, and is believed to be a German Shepherd/ lab mix. After extensive veterinary evaluations, she was diagnosed with severe bilateral hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis from old injuries likely left untreated for far too long.<br/><br/>The good news? Birdie has already undergone her hip surgery and is now on the road to recovery. Despite everything she has endured, she continues to love people and soak up affection every chance she gets.<br/><br/>Birdie is house trained, leash trained, crate trained, and absolutely loves children and humans of all ages. She loves car rides also! She is the type of dog that simply wants to be near her people and be included in the love of a family.<br/><br/>She deserves more than survival. She deserves comfort. Stability. A soft bed. Texas Bark Squad's Adoption Policy
Texas Bark Squad is a foster-based rescue dedicated to placing dogs into safe, loving, and permanent homes. Our adoption process is designed to ensure the best possible match for both the dog and the adopter. Adoption Requirements Applicants must: • Be at least 21 years of age • Provide a valid government-issued ID • Have landlord approval if renting • Provide veterinary references for current or past pets (if applicable) • Be willing to provide a safe, stable, and committed home A fenced yard is not required for every dog but may be necessary depending on the individual dog’s needs. Adoption Process: 1. Submit an adoption application 2. Application review and screening 3. Phone or virtual interview (if needed) 4. Meet and greet (in-person or virtual for out-of-state adopters) 5. Approval and signed adoption agreement 6. Adoption fee payment and placement We prioritize the best fit for each dog based on lifestyle, environment, and experience, not on a first-come, first-served basis. Adoption Fees: Adoption fees vary depending on the dog and help cover: • Spay/neuter surgery • Vaccinations (age appropriate) • Microchipping • Heartworm testing (if age appropriate) • Preventative care Out-of-state adoptions are available. Transport fees included in the total. Medical Disclosure: All known medical and behavioral information is disclosed prior to adoption. However, many of our dogs come from unknown backgrounds, and we cannot guarantee future health or behavior. Adopters are responsible for ongoing veterinary care after adoption. (Stated in the adoption contract) Return Policy: If for any reason you can no longer keep your dog, the dog must be returned to Texas Bark Squad. Dogs may NOT be rehomed, transferred, or sold to another party. (Stated in the adoption contract) Adoption Decisions: Texas Bark Squad reserves the right to approve or deny any application based on what is in the best interest of the dog.
