Birdie's Story
Hi, I'm Birdie! I may be a big girl, but that just means there's more of me to love! When I was brought in to Forsyth County Animal Control, I was 126 lbs and, with the help of my foster family at the shelter and the staff and volunteers at Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary, I'm currently 98 pounds. My ideal healthy weight is 70-80 pounds, so I've still got about 20 more pounds to lose. I'm looking for a family who will cheer me on, keep me active, and celebrate every milestone with me!

One of my favorite things in the whole world is going for walks. I'm great on a leash and would love to be your daily walking buddy. I also LOVE to play fetch; I'll happily chase a stuffed toy until we're both ready for a break. And if you have a pool... well, you may never get me out of it! Splashing around is one of my absolute favorite pastimes.

The humans at the sanctuary swabbed my cheek, sent off my DNA, and discovered that I am over 50% Alaskan Malamute, which explains my sassy personality and my love for cuddles.

Because I'm a strong, energetic girl with some specific needs, I'm looking for a tenured dog owner who can help me continue being my best self. I used to live with another dog and could enjoy having a canine sibling again, but I'll need slow, thoughtful introductions to make sure we're a good match. As for cats, my friends at the sanctuary aren't sure how I'd do with them yet. I also think chasing deer is great fun, so I'll need to stay safely on a leash or in a secure fenced area during outdoor adventures.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who loves adventures, games of fetch, swimming, and snuggling after a day of fun, I think we could make the perfect team. I can't wait to meet the family who will help me finish my fitness journey and love me every step of the way.

I am up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

**IMPORTANT**

The cost to adopt is $250, and the adoption process begins with an Adoption Application that can be located at: www.faithfulfriendsnc.org/adopt
Once your completed application has been reviewed, the humans will contact you with questions and/or set an appointment for you to meet me. Thank you! Please read all guidelines before sending in an application. Do not reach out to the sanctuary about the status of your application; we will contact you if we are interested in setting up an appointment.
