Big Ben's Story

Meet Big Ben!

Big Ben didn't have the easiest start in life. Rescued from a breeding operation through our partnership with local animal control, this little Yorkie gentleman missed out on many of the early developmental experiences that help puppies feel confident in the world. When he first arrived, he was a bit rough around the edges but after a full glam-up from our friends at Queen City Paw Spa, his transformation was incredible. Beneath the tangles was the darling, delicate, and deeply endearing little dog he was always meant to be.

Big Ben is a sensitive little soul. He's still learning how to "dog" and is discovering toys, building confidence, and figuring out that the world can be a safe and gentle place. He won't proactively curl up in your lap just yet, but with soft chest rubs and quiet companionship, he melts into a snuggly, relaxed puppy puddle beside you. Big Ben will need a patient, dedicated home that understands progress will come with lots of time, consistency, kindness, and calm routines. In the right environment, Big Ben will blossom into a lovely, devoted little canine companion.

This sweet boy is ready for his next chapter, one filled with cozy beds, steady reassurance, and people who can appreciate his sensitive nature. If you have the patience to let love unfold at his pace, Big Ben just might be your new best friend.

Dogs: Big Ben is tolerant of other dogs and may be able to live with dogs similar to him in size. Have a dog at home? We're happy to set up a meet-and-greet at HSCC to ensure a good match.
Cats: Big Ben has no known experience with cats.
Children: Big Ben may thrive in a home with teenagers and adults.

Ready to adopt your new best friend?
Submit an adoption application today! You'll receive an email with all the next steps. At HSCC, dog adoptions are by appointment, and we'll schedule your counseling session promptly to help you find the pawfect canine companion!
