Betty's Story

Meet Betty! This 3 year old, 25lb little ween (Chiweenie/Labweenie-ish) is looking for her forever family! She was found on the streets in Houston and is now in the Big Apple ready for whatever the future holds....

She would be great in a multi dog home.

Her foster mom says:

Meet Betty — 25 pounds of pure lap dog energy with a heart to match. This loving, gentle 3-year-old leads with her heart, even when she's not quite sure what's coming next: the moment you meet her, her tail is already wagging. She's shy at first with anyone besides her person, but she warms up quickly, and once she's settled in, she's all in — she loves tug of war, chewing bones and twists, and being showered with pets and compliments at every opportunity. She's leash and crate trained, isn't a barker, and adjusted to her foster home in just a couple of hours flat, acing her first bath and claiming the couch (and your chest, specifically, as the best nap spot) almost immediately.

Betty has a clear love language: belly rubs and neck scratches, with a polite paw-tap to let you know exactly when to keep going. She's perfectly content entertaining herself on the floor, the couch, or in another room while you're busy — though the sound of a cabinet, the fridge, or a crinkling wrapper will have her materializing behind you with devastating puppy-dog eyes in seconds. She's not a fan of busy NYC streets, so she'd thrive in a quieter neighborhood with room to roam, ideally alongside another dog for companionship. Betty is ready to give her whole heart to a calm, patient home willing to keep showing her that the world is safe and wonderful — and she'll give everything she's got right back.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Bacon Betty, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt.truenorthrescue@gmail.com to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
