Bertha's Story
Hi, I'm Bertha! I'm a 55lb bundle of joy and wiggles! I'm a bulldog mix (my foster family thinks I'm American Bulldog) and I'm ready to find my furever home!

I was picked up as a stray and after a short hold in a shelter, I came to my foster family. I was a nervous wreck - I was sad, withdrawn, and scared. I struggled to relax and rest, and I didn't know how to "dog" very well at all. But after a couple days, I started to feel safe. Finally!
I have found so much joy in being a family dog - I love meeting people and other dogs, and I've been so good with the kids in my foster family. I'm learning to do so much on my own too! My foster mom says I'm great at walks (way better than my foster sister.) I'm a gentle, loose-leash walker (unless startled, but I'm getting way better at not being so jumpy!) and barking dogs? No problem. That doesn't bother me at all!
I'm really getting the potty-training thing down and I've appreciated a schedule and my foster sister for showing me the ropes. I hardly ever have accidents and do almost all of my business outside.
I LOVE playing with balls and hope to have a fenced-in yard where I can practice playing fetch - I'm getting so good at it!
My kennel is my safe-space and my foster family leaves the door open all the time for me. I love taking naps on my kennel bed with my stuffies. After a long day of naps, playing with my foster sister, and walks, I sometimes still have a little energy and love to play with my foster family! And I'm learning that it's ok to sit next to people and relax - that they actually like it! Finally, I fall asleep in my kennel (door open) and settle right into a deep sleep with plenty of bulldog snores and snorts.

I'm hoping to find a family that can continue this journey of healing for me. I'm ready to know that I'm safe, wanted, and loved. I've got a lot of love to give and I can't wait to give it!

Bertha is available for adoption PENDING being spayed!
All CSHS pups are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative (if older than 6 months), dewormed and microchipped.

To meet this sweet pup, fill out an application today! https://www.carverscotths.org/dogs
