Bert's Story

Did you know that approximately 25% of all dogs and puppies in a shelter will be purebred or of a designer breed. Designer breeds are two desirable breeds that are mated for the sole purpose of producing highly-salable puppies for profit. Yep ... crazy isn't it! People purchase pets and then, often, loose their commitment to be a pet parent. This is not uncommon in higher socioeconomic situations where the larger sum of money to purchase the pet wasn't a factor and pets are viewed as disposable. And, there are sometimes when these pets are in a shelter because they have wandered away from home and have never been reclaimed by their owner or were surrendered by their owner. Whatever the reason, it is important to know that you can find an amazing selection of deserving, orphaned dogs through rescuing.

Bert is one of these pups-an adorable little puggle who has been abandoned. He is sweet, loves everybody, and just wants to be always at your side--not to mention he is absolutely adorable, just look at those sad chocolate eyes! He is very mellow and gets along with just about anything. He would do best with another little dog his size to play with. He has been away from a home for too long! Won't you be the one to give him the forever home he deserves. Don't delay...adopt today! Please fill out a non obligatory application at pawsandprayers.org and contact Bert's foster mom at twelve.paws3@gmail.com

Note: Please keep in mind that all adoptable pets need time to decompress once they enter a home. For some it will happen quickly and for others it might take a few weeks. You'll want to be understanding of what they have been through and their level of insecurity. We ask that you treat all of them as if they were an 8 week old puppy. Assume they know nothing and begin at step one. You'll soon know what they are capable of and what behaviors you will need kindly work on with your new family member. It's called commitment! And, that's what these pets want more than anything!

Bert is about 5 years old, around 30 pounds, housetrained, and his adoption fee is $200 as he is up to date on all medical needs, microchipped and neutered. Since Paws and Prayers is a non-profit organization, Bert's adoption fee will go right back to help with the medical needs of our other animals. By adopting one of our pups, not only are you helping that dog, but you are helping the next one who comes along! Thank you for your interest in rescue.
