Bernie's Story
Bernie is a neutered male Min Pin/Yorkie mix who is now looking for a new home. He came to the shelter with his mom and siblings after their owner's health failed. He is around 10-12 weeks old. He is looking for a home with someone who understands that he is not house-trained or leash trained at this time, and is willing to put the effort into training him. He has been around his siblings and mom here at the shelter, but he has not been around cats or children. For anyone interested in adopting him and that have children, the children in the home must be 6 years old or older. Experts generally recommend waiting until children are at least 5 or 6 years old before bringing a new puppy or kitten into the home. By this age, children possess better impulse control, understand how to handle animals gently, and can start participating in supervised care, which helps reduce the risk of bites and injuries. If you're interested in meeting her/him please call (419) 294-4477 Ext. 3 from 9AM-5PM to schedule an appointment.

WCHS Adoptions are a 2-Step Process

Step 1— Visit our shelter! (Appointments Required)
The animal of your choice will be reserved for you at the time of scheduling. (Prospective adopters may be shown multiple animals, subject to availability.)

Step 2— Pick up your new pet!
Pickups are generally 3-5 business days after completing adoption paperwork at your in-person appointment. This allows HOPE Clinic time to prep your new pet for their forever home, including spay/neuter surgery (if not already fixed), a microchip, vaccines, and other care depending on the species. Once the animal is ready, we'll call you to coordinate pickup! (Pickup times are generally in the evenings.)
