Bentley

Bentley is an absolutely adorable 13-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who weighs just 7 pounds. This sweet little guy has been through a lot recently. After his beloved elderly owner passed away, the remaining family members were unable to care for him, and he found himself in a shelter. We knew he deserved a soft landing, so we welcomed him into our rescue to give him the medical care and love he needed.<br/><br/>When Bentley arrived, he was dealing with skin, ear, and eye infections, likely the result of untreated medical issues. The good news is that he is responding well to treatment and is feeling better every day. He will need two eye medications every day for the rest of his life to keep his eyes comfortable and healthy. Thankfully, he is a very cooperative patient—especially when he gets a small treat after his medications!<br/><br/>Because of his eye condition, Bentley's vision is somewhat impaired. He gets around the house well once he learns his surroundings, but he doesn't always realize when he's near the edge of furniture and could accidentally step off. His family will simply need to keep an eye on him and help him stay safe.<br/><br/>Bentley enjoys leisurely walks where he can stop and sniff to his heart's content, and he takes great pride in kicking up the grass after he goes to the bathroom. He is housebroken and has lovely manners around the home.<br/><br/>More than anything, Bentley wants to be close to his person. His favorite place is curled up in your lap, nestled beside you on the couch, or being carried in your arms. He is a devoted little companion who simply wants to love and be loved.<br/><br/>Bentley is looking for a family that understands the joy of sharing life with a senior dog. He would do best in a calm home where someone is around much of the time to enjoy his constant companionship. Because of his limited vision, a home without very young children would be ideal, and his family should be mindful of furniture and stairs to help keep him safe.<br/><br/>Prospective adopters should also be prepared for Bentley's ongoing care. His lifelong eye medications are essential to keeping him comfortable, and as a Yorkshire Terrier, he will require professional grooming every 68 weeks throughout his life. We are looking for a family that is financially able to provide both his routine grooming and the veterinary care and medications he needs to continue thriving.<br/><br/>Bentley has already experienced the heartbreak of losing the person he loved most. Now he's ready for a forever home where he can spend his golden years exactly where he wants to be—in your lap, by your side, and surrounded by love.
