Bentley's Story

Bentley is an adorable and lovable 6 year old Yorkie Poodle mix with the sweetest personality you could ask for. He enjoys spending his days snoozing in a fluffy bed and soaking up as much lap time as possible. Bentley also loves toys and will happily play fetch in his own special way by scooting back and forth to chase them. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with what a gentle, affectionate little guy he is.

When it is time for an adventure, Bentley absolutely loves getting outside. Walks in his wheelchair are one of his favorite activities, and he enjoys taking in all the sights and smells the world has to offer. Bentley does well with dogs, cats, and children, and his easygoing nature makes him a wonderful companion.

Bentley is incontinent and paralyzed in his hind end due to IVDD. Because of this, he is unable to go potty on his own and wears diapers that need to be changed and cleaned several times throughout the day. He is incredibly patient during his care and will scoot right over when it is time for a diaper change, calmly waiting while he is cleaned and changed.

His routine is very predictable. Bentley typically has bowel movements after meals, during the night, and sometimes when he gets excited to greet a new friend. His stools are healthy and solid, which makes clean up simple. At night he enjoys sleeping in bed with his person while wearing a diaper and a little outfit to keep everything secure, though he is also perfectly happy sleeping in a cozy bed on the floor.

Bentley's paralysis is very manageable. He happily scoots around the house to get where he needs to go and enjoys spending time in his wheelchair for exercise and fresh air. Most of all, Bentley just wants to be close to his people. He is a loving, resilient little dog who will bring so much joy to the home lucky enough to welcome him.

Once we receive your application an adoption counselor will take a look and reach out with any questions. The team will check personal, vet references and check with your landlord if applicable. Your adoption counselor will then set up a time to talk with you and your family (or anyone else involved in the adoption process in your home). This call is a good time to ask any questions you have. Once your application is approved, you will be connected with the foster of the PIP(s) you are interested in. From start to finish, this process can take anywhere from a few days to over a week (so please be patient!). If everything goes well and you and the foster agree that the PIP you want to adopt is a good fit, we will then finalize the adoption.

Our Mission
PIPs key focus is dogs with special or medical needs (who we call Pip-abled), however, we have many non-PIP-abled dogs too! We made it easy to decipher PIP-abled verses non-PIP-able; simply look at each dogs picture and bio. The Pioneers had a vision to take in the most urgent rescues no one else could which includes p...
