BENNY's Story

Meet Benny! Benny is a ____year old pup with the most adorable underbite and a face that is impossible not to love! He’s currently being fostered in a home with another dog and two cats and is settling in nicely. Benny’s working on gaining a bit of weight, which means he’s highly food-motivated, making it a total win for training! He can get a little reactive when other dogs pass close by on walks, so he’ll thrive with an adopter committed to positive reinforcement and structured introductions. We're using treats to redirect his focus and reward calm energy, and he’s proved to be a star student with this approach. Benny is also dealing with some dental issues right now. He has several tooth infections and broken teeth, which will need to be extracted in October. Despite already having very few usable teeth, he still enjoys chewing on bully sticks in his own special, slobbery way. Around the house, Benny is a pretty laid back dude. He’s not particularly interested in toys, but he does enjoy lounging around and being near his people. He’s exceptionally well potty trained and crate trained. He’s kenneled when we're away, but he’s trusted to hang out loose when we're home and asleep or occupied. And honestly, Benny would probably prefer to be wherever his person is anyway, as he’s a certified constant shadow. Benny has had some mixed interactions with the resident and foster cats. He has chased them a few times, but he has also happily snuggled up with them, so cat interactions will need to be monitored carefully and his adopter should be prepared to continue managing and supervising those relationships. Benny is still learning, but he has so much going for him: he’s affectionate, food motivated, well mannered in the home, and absolutely adorable. With patience, consistency, and someone willing to keep working on his leash manners and introductions, Benny has the potential to make a wonderful companion. If you’re looking for a goofy-faced, low-key shadow who will happily follow you around the house, Benny might be your guy! ??
