Benny's Story

Hi my name is Benny and I'm a really great boy but unfortunately my owner passed away and I'm praying that I will be adopted and be part of a great family again. I'm 4 years old and fully grown at 40 pounds so I'm a perfect medium sized pup. I'm super friendly with everyone I meet and I love to play with other dogs. I used to live with a Pittie mix and a Chiweenie so I'm great with all sizes of pups. You can see in my video how nicely I play with another pup. I'm very smart and know some commands and would love to learn more. All I really want is to be loved again and give lots of love back to my family. I'm playful, a couch potato and a snuggle bug all rolled into one very cute package. I also love to go for walks and car rides to check out new places so I'd be a great adventure buddy! Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
