Benji American Staffordshire Terrier & Pit Bull Terrier Mix Jersey City, NJ

My name is BENJI and I'm a handsome 2.5 yr M Amstaff. I'm 75 lbs of PURE HUNK O' LOVE! I was given up by my owner due to NO TIME. I'm super sweet and friendly but a bit of a "bull in a china shop".. I'm a big goofy puppy and for a lughead, I walk great on a leash... BUT if I see a squirrel I'm off to the races!! I'm a bit reactive to dogs on leash as I only ever knew one dog when I was younger. My owner introduced me to his neighbors big female black lab/pit X and we were BFFs.. but I was never socialized with other dogs because I was never walked.. just let out into a basement yard so as a result I'm a bit guarded on leash with other dogs in passing. I think I could be with another dog (preferably a female) as long as I was introduced properly and with an experienced handler. I seem to be fine with small dogs that are calm and not too hyper. I'm a bit too interested in cats so NO CATS for me. Because of my size and strength, it's best that I go with older kids ages 12 yrs+. Since I'm technically still a puppy, I do need chew toys and the really tough ones as I'm good at destroying wimpy toys and balls in 2 minutes or less!
I have to be watched carefully because I have been known to swallow things and I've had to have surgery to remove a rope toy that I ingested!!! Hopefully as I grow out of my puppy stage I won't need to chew so much OR my new owners will exercise me soo much I'll be too exhausted to need to chew/ingest anything. I'm super crate trained and really good left home alone without any separation anxiety. I know basic commands and am an expert fetcher... but like I said I'm still young and need structured exercise, discipline and further maintenance training. I'm not hyper and have great medium energy. I would love someone/couple who KNOWS, UNDERSTANDS and APPRECIATES MY BREED and I NEED A FENCED IN YARD to fetch to my hearts content. I'm eager to please and quick to learn and if you stick with me... I'm going to be a SUPERSTAR of a DOG because I have such a SWEET temperament and such a SILLY MUSHY disposition.
