Benji's Story

Meet Benji!

Benji is a 1.5-year-old Poodle mix, possibly a Bichpoo, Maltipoo, or a mix of both. This sweet boy was rescued thanks to a kind-hearted Good Samaritan who stepped in when his previous family was close to abandoning him at a park. She reached out to us for help finding him the loving and patient home he truly deserves.

While we do not know Benji’s full story, we can assume he experienced neglect and possible abuse in the past. When Benji first came to us, he was extremely fearful of people and new environments, and he still can be shy at times. Benji is looking for a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home that will be patient with him, allow him to build trust at his own pace, and show him what love truly feels like.

Despite his fears, Benji is trying so hard to be brave. He will slowly come up to you when spoken to gently, especially if you talk to him like a baby and give him soft kisses and reassurance. Once he begins to trust you, he can be incredibly loving and affectionate and truly is the best boy.

Benji would do best in a home with another friendly dog, as having another dog around helps him feel more comfortable and secure. He thrives in calm, understanding environments with people willing to give him the time he needs to blossom.

Benji is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm/Lyme tested, and fully vet checked.

If you are looking to change a rescue dog’s life and have the patience to help a shy pup come out of his shell, Benji may be the perfect match for you.

To apply or learn more about Benji, please email us at info@rootrescue.org

Root Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process Application Review: Potential adopters submit an adoption application. We carefully review it to ensure the home can meet the needs of both the dog or cat and the family. Virtual Meeting & Home Check: We set up a virtual meeting where we meet all family members who will interact with the new pet. During this step, we ask questions, review the home environment, and allow the family to meet the pet virtually. In-Person Meet & Greet: We conduct an in-person visit with all family members and current pets (if any). This ensures the dog or cat is comfortable with the family, and that any existing pets are compatible with the new addition. Final Decision & Placement: After assessing the interactions and overall fit, we make a final adoption decision. If approved, the new pet goes to their forever home.
