Meet Ben

Ben was pulled from a Sumner County hoarding case along with several of his "siblings. He arrived at our boarding facility where he was shut down and shy with everyone. He only came out to go outside and went directly back to his kennel. A few days before Christmas, Ben was able to find a foster home where he has been thriving big time! It didn't take long for him to break out of his shyness shell, fall into routine and joining his foster family. For awhile, he would lay from afar and watch but if one member would get up, he'd run back to his kennel. Fast forward to mid January he likes to be near his pack, snuggle on the couch and loves getting gentle pets. If you're getting tail wags, it's a good sign he's feeling comfortable!

Ben is very food driven and will hang out near the kitchen waiting for any food to drop! He gets along great with the resident dog, they play quite a bit together and doesn't mind the resident cat. He pretty much leaves her alone. He currently lives with a toddler but would be better in a household with older kids that will respect his space. He also seems to do better with another dog in the home to learn the ropes and trusting people but would probably do okay as an only dog. It might take him longer to come out of his shell though. We are working on the leash. He used to thrash his head or chew the leash but it's getting better! He will require baths 1-2 times a weeks for his skin and fur since it wasn't well taken care of in the past. He also has a cataract in his right eye but that doesn't stop him from being a playful dog!
