en is currently in Louisiana. <br/><br/>Meet Ben! <br/>Ben and Jerry were among 30+ dogs surrendered by Border Control. Most of the dogs were German Shorthaired Pointers and were taken in by a breed-specific rescue. But Ben and Jerry looked a little more Labby, so they were left behind. Thats when NYSRR stepped up! <br/><br/>Both boys were unfortunately heartworm positive, but were happy to say they have successfully completed treatment and are ready for their next chapter!<br/><br/>Ben is the younger of the two, proabley 3- 4 years old and this boy is just happy, social, and easygoing! The one thing Ben seems to have missed out on is structure. He really doesnt know any commands yet—but he isnt a bad dog. He simply hasnt had much guidance in his life.<br/><br/>The good news? Ben is people-motivated AND food-motivated (what a surprise for a Labby boy! ), which means he should be a great student once someone takes the time to show him the ropes.<br/><br/>What Ben really wants is a yard, some people to love, and a family ready to give him the attention and guidance he craves. Hed love to have kids or adults to romp around with and, most importantly, a family who will help him learn how wonderful life can be.<br/><br/>Ben is ready to trade his past for a forever family! <br/><br/>Could you be the one to show Ben the way?<br/>lease NOTE, our dogs are NOT local - we partner with a rescue group in Louisiana, who gets these dogs before they end up in a shelter. We bring them up to the Northeast on paid transport. We also ask that adopters live within a 60 mile radius of Long Island. Why, because most of our volunteers and professional help are located on Long Island and we want to be available to help if needed.<br/><br/>We ask all protentional adopters to please visit our website at NYSRR.com to fill out our online application. We follow up with a phone interview and remote home visit. All just an opportunity to get to know more about you, your family, your life style and your doggy experience.
