BELLA's Story

OTHER PETS: Bella was comfortable and relaxed meeting other little dogs, she greeted them appropriately and wavered between disinterested and relaxed while around them. She would likely get along with other low key, smaller dogs, but should any dogs she would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog] Experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn. KIDS: Bella is comfortable with most handling, enjoys interacting with humans, and has not exhibited resource guarding while at TJO. She would likely get along well with any human who knows how to interact respectfully. Bella should meet any minors she would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Bella is more interested in human interaction than playing with toys and is comfortable on leash. She would do well with regular neighborhood walks/exercise, combined with mental enrichment such as sniffing, and games with her people. [Couch Potato] VETERINARY CARE: Older dogs need bi-annual vet visits to ensure that any medical concerns are found early and addressed quickly in order to ensure the healthiest life possible; a good relationship with a vet will be necessary for Bella. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Bella bond with her new owner as well as help her learn new skills and fun tricks. Ongoing fun with positive reinforcement and enrichment will help Bella keep her mind sharp as she progresses through her golden years, allow her to accompany her humans safely on adventures, or even teach her a library of tricks to show off with. [Minimal] GROOMING: Regular brushing will keep Bella's coat clean and matt-free between grooms; she should be groomed every 6 - 8 weeks. [Professional Grooming]
