Bella's Story
Meet Bella, a sweet standard Dachshund with a gentle heart and a very polite way of moving through the world.

Bella is the kind of girl who is absolutely delighted to see you when you come home and has the cutest happy dance. She loves her people and would be happiest with an individual or couple who appreciate a quiet, affectionate companion. She is perfectly happy as an only dog and would make a lovely apartment dog because she is wonderfully quiet. In fact, her foster has yet to hear her make much of a fuss at all.

Bella is also an excellent little traveler. She happily hops into the car and loves going for rides, so if you’re looking for a companion for errands, adventures, or a scenic drive, Bella may be your girl. She enjoys her walks, too, and has been having a lovely time exploring the dirt trails around her foster’s home in the Vernal area.

She is completely house trained and had the dog door mastered before she arrived. Her foster has seen zero accidents during her stay. Bella seems to have always understood that the great indoors is where she belongs, even though one of her previous homes kept her primarily outside. Bella is an indoor doggo.

Bella is a very gentle soul. She can be timid around other dogs, especially if they are pushy or try to boss her around. Rather than making a fuss, Bella simply opts out. If the other dogs are piled onto the foster’s bed, she may quietly decide, “No thank you,” and retire to the living room where she can enjoy some peace and quiet. She would likely do best with calm, respectful dogs or as your one-and-only.

She has also blossomed in foster care and is doing beautifully with a fresh, homemade diet. She has even lost a couple of pounds.

Bella has had quite a journey. After her original owner passed, she went to a family member and then to another home who surrendered her to RMDR. Now she is looking for the peaceful, loving forever home she deserves.

If your idea of a perfect dog is a sweet companion who greets you happily, walks nicely, rides peacefully in the car, keeps her house tidy, and would rather quietly remove herself from drama than participate in it, Bella might be your kind of girl.

She’s ready for a soft place to land and someone who will show her just how lovely being someone's beloved dog can be.

Bella is currently being fostered in Utah.

Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue (RMDR) has foster families in Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming. Please check the dog’s location before your apply to adopt them. You will need to pick them up. RMDR DOES NOT TRANSPORT THE DOG TO YOU or transport them across state lines.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture requires that all dogs entering PACFA-licensed facilities have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days of entry. Dogs over three months of age must also have proof of a current rabies vaccination, including the vaccination date, manufacturer, and serial number listed on the CVI. Puppies must receive parvovirus and distemper vaccinations at least 14 days before entry.

These PACFA requirements may affect the adoption fee. For questions, please email us at contact@rmdr.org.

At RMDR, adoptions are not first-come, first-served—we carefully place each dog in the home that best fits their needs. Applications are usually reviewed within 48 hours. Every RMDR dog is spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

If you’d like to be considered, please start our online adoption application here: https://rockymountaindachshundrescue.com/adopt
