Behrett's Story
Lights, Camera, Behrett!

Some dogs are complicated. Behrett is not one of those dogs. Behrett wakes up every morning with exactly two goals: make friends and see what kind of shenanigans the day has planned. He's basically the canine equivalent of that guy who shows up to every party, barbecue, road trip, and random Tuesday afternoon gathering with absolutely zero agenda other than "I'm just happy to be here." He's a big goofy lovable dork who somehow missed the memo that he's no longer a tiny puppy. He bounces through life with the enthusiasm of a dog who believes every person is a friend, every adventure is worth investigating, and every day is the best day ever. His superpower is matching the energy around him.

Behrett is a 13-month-old, 64-pound Great Pyrenees mix whose story started with a family going through some difficult life changes. After a divorce, Behrett's owner found himself trying to care for him on his own but ultimately made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him when he realized he could no longer provide the life Behrett deserved. Since arriving in rescue, Behrett has proven that despite the changes and uncertainty he's experienced, he hasn't lost his happy-go-lucky spirit. He greets life with a wagging tail, a goofy grin, and the unwavering belief that everyone he meets is probably a friend he just hasn't properly introduced himself to yet. He's the kind of dog who rolls with whatever life throws at him, whether that's making new canine friends, meeting new people, or figuring out what adventure comes next. Now he's ready for the one thing that's been missing from his storya forever family that's truly forever.

When it comes to other dogs, Behrett operates under one very simple assumption: Everyone is his friend. Has he met them before? Doesn't matter. Do they know they're his friend yet? Also doesn't matter. His default setting is enthusiastic friendship. The good news is he's actually pretty good at reading the room. When he met his foster's puppy, it was immediate "BEST FRIENDS FOREVER" energy. When he met the resident adult German Shepherd, he realized this was more of a professional networking opportunity and took a much more respectful approach. In other words, he's social, but he's not oblivious. Cats? He's not fostered with any, but he's had several surprise cat encounters while out and about. At the vet's office, he met the resident cat, greeted her with happy tail wags, then politely laid down and waited for her to acknowledge his friendship request. Unfortunately, she did not seem nearly as invested in the relationship as he was. As for kids, he hasn't lived with any, but his personality screams "oversized playground buddy." Behrett has big golden retriever energy packed into his fluffy Pyrenees body. He'd likely be thrilled to participate in family adventures, backyard games, and any activity that involves attention, snacks, or being included. And people? Oh, Behrett LOVES people. He believes strangers are simply friends who haven't pet him yet. He's not demanding. He's just very passionate about customer service and making sure everyone receives the full Behrett experience.

If you're looking for a dog who needs to summit Mount Everest every morning before breakfast, Behrett would respectfully decline. If you're looking for a dog who enjoys a nice walk, a little adventure, some playtime, and then retiring to the nearest cool floor like a Victorian gentleman recovering from a hard day of supervising the household, now we're talking. His energy level lands right in the middle. When it comes to car rides, Behrett is always ready for adventure. Open the car door and he's already halfway inside before you've finished the invitation. Fair warning, however: if proper safety measures are not in place, he fully believes the passenger seat was designed specifically for him. Once settled, he's an excellent traveler, content to quietly gaze out the window and contemplate whatever important business big fluffy dogs contemplate. On leash, Behrett is generally a gentleman. He walks at a comfortable pace with only occasional reminders that certain trees require immediate inspection. Sometimes a smell is simply too important to ignore. Scientific research must be conducted. As for adventure versus homebody? Behrett has mastered the art of work-life balance. He enjoys getting out and exploring, loves a good walk, and is always up for tagging along on family activities. But he also firmly believes that quality relaxation is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Overall, Behrett is exactly what we've been telling you he is from the start: a giant lovable dork trapped in the body of a handsome Great Pyrenees mix. He's playful without being wild, social without being overwhelming, adventurous without being exhausting, and relaxed without being lazy. He simply adjusts to whatever the day calls for and is happiest when he gets to be included. He enjoys toys. He enjoys water. He enjoys people. He enjoys dogs. He enjoys life. Honestly, Behrett may be one of the easiest dogs to make happy we've ever met.

Now let's discuss Behrett's housing requirements, which can best be summarized as: "I'd like to be included in whatever is happening, thank you." A securely fenced yard would be ideal for him. That said, he doesn't require acres of land to be happy. A home without a fence could absolutely work as long as he's getting regular walks and opportunities to stretch his legs. An apartment, however, would probably not be his dream living arrangement. Remember how we mentioned he's a social butterfly with opinions? And how he likes to alert you when important events occur? Important events such as packages arriving. Squirrels existing. Life happening. Behrett enjoys being part of the neighborhood watch program, whether anyone asked him to join or not. The good news is he's a smart boy. He already knows commands like sit, lay down, off, and wait. He's also fully potty trained, which means he's mastered one of the most important skills of adulthood far better than some humans. As for kennels, Behrett has some thoughts. He can absolutely be kenneled when needed. He just feels it is important that everyone hears his opening statement first. After delivering his brief protest regarding this injustice, he settles down and does just fine. At home, Behrett has earned a fair amount of trust. He doesn't spend his free time chewing furniture, destroying shoes, or testing the structural integrity of drywall. In fact, he's surprisingly respectful with household items for a dog who still has giant puppy energy. At night, he sleeps in the master bathroom on the cool tile floor where he can keep an eye on his people. During the day when left alone, he stays behind a baby gate in the laundry room and does well. He also fully supports couch privileges and has no intention of pretending otherwise. If your furniture policy is "dogs belong on the couch," Behrett would like to formally endorse your lifestyle choices.

Now, if you've made it this far and are thinking, "Wow, this sounds suspiciously like my perfect dog," then congratulations. The next step is filling out an adoption application. Once you fill one out, we'll send it to Behrett's foster family so they can review it. And before anyone asks, yes, you will need to pick him up in Oklahoma City, OK. No, he cannot drive himself. We checked. While he firmly believes he'd make an excellent passenger-seat supervisor, he still lacks a valid driver's license and opposable thumbs.

Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Behrett is ready to find his forever family. The only question left is whether that family is yours... and whether you're prepared to spend the next decade being lovingly supervised by a giant fluffy dork who thinks every person, dog, and possibly cat is just a friend he hasn't met yet.
