Bedazzle 14234's Story

Bedazzle is a senior who is serious about snuggles. A charming, tricolor terrier, Bedazzle is never happier than when she's creating a cozy nest. She might be part prairie dog with how effectively she burrows, and the reward for all her hard work? A comfy bed fit for a queen like her. With a body type that suggests potato, Bedazzle is comfier on the couch than on the field, but she does like to putter around outside here and there for a change of scenery. Bedazzle will thrive in a forever home where life goes slowly with lots of time to savor all of the small things. If you're looking for the perfect pooch to sit solidly by your side, through thick and thin, consider Bedazzle!

Here's some notes from her foster:

For starters, Bedazzle was an easy houseguest! She was very curious in our house, and would "make the rounds" (pacing) for a bit before finding a spot to take a nap. Because we have two Muttville pups already, there was no shortage of doggie beds for her to try out. From our observations, she did best with a bed that was bigger than her, with a low barrier to get into (e.g., at least one side of the bed should be "open" for her to just walk into). She also spent a night in one of the heated beds and ended up sleeping 10+ hours!

From our observations, she is unable to do stairs, but can do one step down/step up (e.g., to get outside, up/down on a deck). She's decent on the leash, and with gentle guidance, can enjoy a walk around the block.

Bedazzle does seem to be housetrained, but the challenge is knowing her "tell". Because she paces and goes in circles, it's not always clear when she needs to go out. But with time, her foster/new family will easily figure it out.

She also got along well with our Muttville pack. Because she tends to circle/pace, we noticed she'd briefly walk away from her food, make a circle and then return to finish her meal. But our pups took her plate to be "up for grabs" whenever she did "step away"...but with some monitoring, things will be fine. And she did best with her food on a flat plate, instead of in a bowl.

And while she's not a pup that's going to cozy up to her human for a snuggle, we did feel that she was engaged with us and would let us pet her and even pick her up (mainly to take her outside/down the stairs). She's certainly wiggly, so her foster/new family just need to have a good grip on her harness (and her) so she doesn't "escape" their grip.

From our brief time with her this weekend, we feel that Bedazzle would do best in a home where her human would be home often, she'd have easy access to a backyard and maybe one doggie sibling (although we don't think it's a deal breaker).
