Becky Cocker Spaniel Baker, LA

Becky is a beautiful 2 year old red cocker spaniel that will be your shadow until the end of time. Once she loves you, she LOVES you. She wants to be as close to you as humanly possible at all times. She’s a lover. She’s also a survivor of some serious trauma that brings up issues that will require a special person to help her work through. Her current foster has small children which we have determined is not the best fit for her. She isn’t aggressive towards the children, but is very overstimulated by their activity. She will need a calm adult only home in order to thrive. She has ongoing struggles with house training, but is something we are working on constantly. She is terrified of the outside world and will need someone who is willing to invest time, patience and training, taking baby steps in getting her comfortable. We are unsure how she is with other dogs. Before being placed with her foster, she was around other dogs and did fine, but since then her anxiety has gotten the best of her, making her fearful of almost everything. She has debilitating anxiety so someone with experience in anxious and reactive dogs is a must. She’s slowly learning how to play with toys, but would rather chase you around the house with the zoomies. She’s very leary of sounds, being left alone outside, strangers, men and RAIN. Her past trauma includes being chained up outside in a flooding backyard which is why rain and the outdoors are so scary for her. Poor girl was in water up to her chest and her brother, drowned beside her. She is up to date on all shots, heart worm negative (and on flea/heartworm prevention) and takes daily medication for her anxiety.
