Beauregarde arrived at New York Animal Care Centers - the NYC municipal shelter as a stray with no known history. Initially when he arrived Beau was observed to be highly fearful and kept to himself. After a few interactions with the volunteers he started opening up and showing his true self.<br/><br/>However, his time was coming to an end and he needed a savior. He enjoys fetch, walks, toys, and being with his people. Beau is house-trained and crate training is in progress. He does best with routine, structure, and consistent daily exercise.<br/><br/>Beau gets excited meeting new people and is still learning basic manners, so he can be jumpy or mouthy when overstimulated. He walks well on leash but has a strong prey drive and may pull when he sees wildlife. Continued training and confident handling will help him keep improving.<br/><br/>Beau did well with other dogs in the shelter but needs slow introductions and may benefit from multiple meet-and-greets.<br/><br/>Ideal home: active adopter, patient with training, able to provide routine, and looking for a playful yet affectionate companion.<br/><br/>Beau is ready to be a loyal, fun-loving best friend. We love him, he’s the best snuggle buddy and while we will be sad to see him go, Beau deserves a loving and patient family/person to give him the love and care he deserves.
