Beau - IN FOSTER HOME - AVAILABLE TO ADOPT's Story
Beau is a 3-year-old, 35-pound Blue Heeler mix - a sweet, quiet boy who is settling into foster care and showing more of his personality every day. He’s the kind of dog who loves the simple things in life — long walks, cozy couch naps, car rides, and being close to his people. He’s even starting to discover the fun of toys and is learning new skills like sit, shake, and coming when called. He’s not a barker, gets along well with his foster dog sibling and is making progress learning to stay calm around cats with supervision.

Beau came from a hoarding situation and his life was turned upside down, but he has made great strides already. His jumping on people and counters has improved significantly, and he’s getting the hang of his house manners. Like many dogs adjusting to a new environment, he still has a few things he’s working on. Housetraining is a work in progress, he’s still getting comfortable with his crate at night, and sometimes his curiosity gets the best of him (socks and shoes are fair game if left laying around!).

Beau can be sensitive to unfamiliar noises and is still building confidence, especially around new adults. While he bonded quickly with his foster parents, unfamiliar adults can make him nervous at first. His foster family is continuing to help him with socialization, and he’s already shown that can continue to make progress given some space and patience. Beau has done very well meeting children and has been gentle and calm during those interactions.

What Beau needs most is a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. Watching Beau gain confidence and blossom is incredibly rewarding, and we know the right home will help him continue that journey. If you are looking for a deserving companion, Beau may be your perfect match!

Apply at redbarnrescue.com to meet him!
