BEAR's Story

Bear (A137423) is a 1-year-and-2-month-old bloodhound x catahoula mix who weighed over 70 lbs at intake! 03/27/26 Mister Bear is back at the shelter because he was too hyper and energetic for his pregnant owner. Bear was described as a friendly and affectoinate dog. He has been known to be rough when playing, and he has some naughty habits typical of young dogs that he needs help managing. Bear has been known to chew, geti into trash and get onto counters. He was said to know the command for sit, and was said to be housebroken and kennel trained. He has been known to be vocal at times. Bear has also been known to jump fences, so make sure he is supervised when outdoors. In his most recent home, Bear was said to not do well with other dogs, as he can be very rambunctious. Please use caution when introducing him to other dogs. If you are interested in meeting Bear, please give us a call! 11/10/25 Bear is back at the shelter due to no fault of his own and is eagerly awaiting his new family to love! While in his last home, Bear was described as outgoing, friendly, and affectionate! He was said to do well with people of all ages, including babies and children! Bear was also said to do well with other pets (dogs, cats, and pocket pets). Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new pets to help set him up for success! Bear was said to be kennel-trained and housebroken. However, he would still benefit from attending a basic obedience class, as he does like to jump up and give hugs! Bear was also said to get into the trash when left unsupervised. Bear is a young, sweet boy, looking for a home that can continue to shower him in love and attention! If you are interested in meeting Bear, please let us know! 02/05/25 This little stud muffin is Bear! Bear was brought to the shelter because he was the last of the litter and his previous owner had too many dogs to keep him. Bear was said to be working on being potty trained and his basic obedience. He already knows sit! Bear was also said to be kennel trained and generally outgoing and friendly and gentle when playing. He was said to do well with kids and other dogs, but he can be shy around strangers. He has some typical puppy habits, such as chewing and getting into the trash when given the chance, as well as jumping on people and counters. He is hoping his next home can fine tune his potty training and his manners! Bear is going to be a big dog, so he is looking for a home ready to handle a big cuddle bug! If you are interested in meeting Bear, please give the shelter a call!
