Bear's Story

Follow Bear's adventures on Instagram: @adopt_bestboybearIf you are looking for a loyal shadow, a world-class snuggler, and a dog who truly tunes into your guidance, Bear is your boy. At 60 lbs, he genuinely believes he’s a lap-sized "little love bug," and once you are in his circle, you are in for life. What's Bear made up of? Wisdom Panel: www.wisdompanel.com/app/s/52slwdfBear was dumped in th streets, which left him with a little bit of lingering fear. Because of this, he’s a "90% perfect" boy who just needs a semi-experienced handler to help him conquer that last 10%. He looks to his person for direction, recovers quickly when startled, and walks beautifully on a leash. He’s incredibly smart, highly food-motivated, knows a ton of commands, and boasts great recall. He is not reactive by nature and is the type of boy that sits by your feet at a brewery or outside eatery! If this boy wasn't so conflicted about cats, his foster would adopt him in a second.Bear’s Ideal Home Checklist:The Humans: A moderately active household, bear enjoys a daily walk and for someone to throw his toys. Older kids are fine, but tiny kiddos probably aren't the right match for him. However he’s not been tested with them. The Setup: A house rather than an apartment. Bear has some mild separation anxiety and gets really excited when you return. Don't worry—you won't be a prisoner in your home! His foster parent successfully works 8–10 hour days, but an apartment wall might be a bit too close for comfort while he continues to work through vocalizing his happiness and sadness. The Pack: Bear loves having a canine sibling to copy! He currently thrives living with small dogs (he adores snuggling with his chug sister) and does great with dogs his size who have a calm, chill vibe. Larger or high-energy dogs can intimidate him, but with proper introductions, he can find his groove with almost anyone. Not sure a dog park would be right for him as he prefers to take a minute to get to know someone, but based on his behavior he could eventually be that "off leash BFF" for you.No Felines: While he currently lives with a cat, he finds them a bit too conflicting to happily coexist, so a cat-free home is best.Whether you want to go hiking, take a car ride, visit a local brewery, or just chill out on the couch with a 61 lb weighted blanket at your feet, Bear is ready to be your ultimate companion. He just needs a human who will stand up for him, protect his boundaries, and keep showing him that the world isn’t so scary after all.Follow Bear's adventures on Instagram: @adopt_bestboybear Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 56.6lbs Age: 1yrs 10mths 3wks Animal has been Neutered
