Bear *Courtesy Post*'s Story

**Courtesy Post**

If you want a big ball of furry lumpiness you will want Bear. He is an absolute love bug when it comes to his mom and dad, and their friends are his friends. Bear is comfortable on any lap he can climb onto and will nuzzle himself right up under that lap owners chin without budging for hours. He’s not a jumper but more of what we call “a gentle leaner” and will stand tall against you with his arms wrapped around your waist. If you let him, he will shuffle along with you as you move from place to place. He's often described as a Victorian dancing bear in a tutu.

Bear is truly 62.2 pounds of constant affection towards humans but isn’t always fond of other dogs. He seems to think cats exist for his entertainment, he gave chase at his current home but they were quicker. Bear hasn’t met any children that we know of or been exposed to other animals during his brief stay with his current owners.

Luckily Bear was removed from a neglectful situation where he was underfed and not socialized enough around people and other animals. Since his rescue he has shown promise to be the best solo pet in a kid free household.

Because they are unable to give him a home that is safe and comfortable for him they are seeking a committed adult or adult couple that can work with him to help him become the amazing boy he was always meant to be.

The current home he is in has another dog and two cats. Because the 4 of them are not getting along the couple is working hard to find him a home as quickly as possible. This situation is not sustainable for much longer. Bear is located in southwestern Virginia and would do well in a rural environment with fenced space to run but be warned his favorite place is in the house with his humans. He is housebroken, comfortable in his crate (which will go with him if his new family wants to continue with crating) neutered, and microchipped. He’s heart worm negative, up to date on every possible vaccine, has almost 3 months to go on his recent Bravecto flea & tick treatment and comes with a few months supply of heartworm chews. He’ll also bring his favorite toys, a couple of slow feed bowls, his cozy blanket and a few extra treats.

Bear’s family spared no expense as they took him in believing he would be with them on their farm for many years to come. If their circumstances were any different they would never consider looking for another furrever home for this special guy.

Give a call anytime to come meet Bear or make arrangements with his current owners to bring him to you. They are willing to travel great lengths to ensure Bear finds the best new family possible.

Contact: 781-879-6796

**This is a courtesy post. Floyd County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
The Floyd County Humane Society reserves the right to deny any application on a companion animal for any reason. The applicant will always be informed as to why they were denied. Denying an application is not a personal attack on the applicant, in many cases, the denial is because we, at the Humane Society, do not feel that the animal and family will be a good match. This does not mean that the applicant would certainly be denied in the future. Some of the reasons the applicant may be denied: bad vet or personal references, lying on the application, refusing a home check, past history of returning/rehoming animals, or inadequate supervision. In some cases, we receive two applications on the same animal. In this case, it is up to the discretion of the Humane Society to decide which family would be the best fit for the animal. The Floyd County Humane Society is staffed solely by volunteers. The application process can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how soon references can be reached and if there are any concerns about the application. Unfortunately, some applications are denied, but it is done in the best interest of the animal. If there are any questions or concerns as to why an application was denied, the applicant can reach out to the contact person or email the Society.
