Bear #7178's Story

Bear (male 75lbs) and Miss Pretty (female 95lbs) are a wonderful pair of pure Goldens who were surrendered to GRRAND by a shelter in Ohio. They had reportedly been maintained outdoors on chains all their lives and used for breeding. The shelter had reportedly tried very hard to get the owner to surrender them over the years, but he was unwilling to do so. When the owner recently passed away, the family members sent the dogs to the shelter. Bear and Miss Pretty have landed in a safe place at our kennel, but they need a home to truly begin the life they deserve.

The most urgent need is for Bear, who is heartworm positive and starting treatment this month. His treatment will be done at GRRAND's expense, but Bear needs someone willing to take him to multiple vet appointments over the next couple of months until he is heartworm negative. He needs a calm, low-activity home to safely recover.

Both Bear and Miss Pretty are super sweet and very social. They seem to be house-trained as they are not making messes in their kennels.

As a bonded pair, they are very comfortable with each other. We would love for them to be placed in a foster or adoptive home together, but separate placements are also possible. Due to their past, they should be the only dogs in the home.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Bear or Miss Pretty, please visit GRRAND.org or click the links below to complete an application.
