Meet Bear

Meet Bear, the adorable, giant roly-poly pup! Bear has a handsome rust-colored coat - he's 5 months old and already a chonky 40 lbs - we expect him to be in the 85+ lb range when he's full grown.

This fun-loving dude came to us as a stray from the central valley, where he was sadly never claimed. It's truly baffling how such an affable pup could go unnoticed at the shelter. Bear is happy and wiggly around people and other dogs, and was a typical playful puppy with the tolerant and dog-saavy cat at the shelter - he just thinks everyone is is friend and wants to play!

Bear is eager to please, highly food-motivated, and absolutely adores playtime. Having a constant playmate as a second dog would be ideal, as he thrives on interaction and socialization. He has an abundance of energy, and his enthusiastic nature will require someone dedicated to his training and developing his social skills. While possessing the typical puppy energy, after an initial burst of excitement, Bear does happily mellow and has been great with his early introduction to basic training.

Bear is making progress in both house and crate training in his foster home and is adapting well so far. He is fostered with another dog and older children, and just loves everybody. Bear may be a better fit for a family with children past the toddler stage, as he does have his rambunctious and uncoordinated puppy moments and may easily knock down smaller children due to his large size. Potential adopters should also consider that Bear will be an XL dog when he is full-grown, and have the necessary space he will need as an adult dog.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to welcome this extraordinary pup into your home! Bear’s gregarious spirit will undoubtedly bring endless joy and laughter to your life. By providing him with the necessary training, socialization, and a loving environment, you'll witness his remarkable growth and become a cherished part of his journey.

The first step in the process is to submit an application (link below) in order to set up a meet and greet or talk with the foster family. Once the application is submitted, the foster parents will contact you to chat more about the dog and make sure they're a good fit, and can answer any further questions. The application answers most of our questions in order to best match you. If you do not get the dog you apply for we can use your same application for 90 days towards another dog in our care and simply forward your app to that foster parent.
