Meet BEAR

PLEASE NOTE: If interested in adopting, the first step is to complete an application on our website at www.sherylsden.org Emails do not start the process, applications do. Please understand that we are 100% foster home based and 100% volunteer, we will respond to each application.

Bear arrived on February 27th, at 1 year of age, weighing in at 90 pounds. We suspect that he is a multi-mixed breed dog. Bear has a huge heart and a desire to play. He is having a great time playing with my dog. He loves toys, especially tennis balls. He slept through the night in a crate and in the morning went right outside and did his business. He is quite easy going and a gentle giant. His table manners are great. He does not counter or table surf though he could easily reach. He laid down in another room while we ate dinner last night. He does well on a leash. He is a big boy but did pull, even though he could have. Maybe excitement could cause him to pull but right now, he is not.

UPDATE: Bear is a nice dog. He is not needy for affection and is not looking to be a lap dog. He simply lays on the floor next to me when I work and seems content to just hang there. Sadly, he has had a couple of accidents so he will need continued training. He understands he can get busy outside but does not know how to signal that he needs to go out. We have been taking him outside on a good schedule to set him up for success.

UPDATE: Bear is fostered in a home with adults and adult children. He is not afraid of strangers visiting and when he sees people outdoors, he just watches them. He is a nice boy! Our dogs are 40 pounds each. One is male and one is female. He gets along fine with my male and will play and run around together. The female is the boss, she ignores Bear, and he respects her wishes. He is not at all fearful or reserved. He may have shown a shy side when he first arrived but overall, this is an easy-going boy who just wants to have fun, exercise, mental stimulation etc. He is NOT resource guarding/aggression over food, toys, etc. with people or dogs. He has normal dog energy. He runs around when playing with my male, but when done, he just hangs out. He was left home yesterday in the crate, and he was fine. We were gone approx. 4 hours. When home, he barked with a little excitement once we entered the home.
