Beans Pit Bull Terrier Mix Villa Park, IL

Hi! I’m Beans, formerly known as Diamond but not completely attached to any name so open to suggestions:) I have a bit of a long story. A nice lady rescued me from an abusive situation and convinced my former owner to give me up so I could have a chance for a happy life. She REALLY REALLY wanted to keep me but there were some personality conflicts with her fur kids so I find myself here looking for my forever home. I am an 8 year old pitbull/American bulldog mix and I have SO much love to give. I know lots of tricks - sit, stay, down, and high five. I am house broken and crate trained and can hold it for up to 9 hours (but prefer to go frolic outside a little more often than that). I am a pretty low maintenance/low energy dog - I love just laying around and sleeping all day and I have the cutest little snore. I particularly like lounging on couches but am really good at getting off the furniture when I am told. I also come with my very own awesome dog bed which I LOVE. I like giving kisses but don’t require a ton of attention and am fine entertaining myself if you have work to do or can’t play with me. I love people so so so much!!! Now that we got some of the good stuff out of the way, here’s the rest. I would probably do best in a home where I would be an only pet. I have some problems with guarding food and toys and would really prefer not to share these with any other animals. I do well playing with dogs outside but I do not want to live with them or have them around my stuff. That being said, I’m ok if my human touches me while I am eating or playing. They don’t think I have lived with kids but play well with the older neighbors when they are outside (ages 9 and 12). I have not been around or tested with younger children. I am also not a huge fan of cats. I used to pull on the leash but this lady bought me a front clip harness so now am much better but she would say I am a work in progress when it comes to taking walks - I start off fast but tire out pretty quickly. I am allowed to roam around the whole upstairs when my current host leaves for work and have not gotten into or chewed up ANYTHING. I am a really good girl when it comes to that. As I said, I generally just sleep all day. I am a bit overweight and will need to lose a few pounds. They thought I might have arthritis but the Vet said I am just fat and once the extra weight comes off, I’ll move even better. Last thing, I am prone to chronic ear infections. My last owner didn’t take very good care of me and did not address this problem so I have a lot of scarring in my ear canals which is what is leading to the infections. The good news is they are looking really good now thanks to my medicine. I am up to date on all my vaccines as of November. Anyone out there looking for someone like me? I am low energy and promise to love you with all my heart if you give me a chance.
