Beaker's Story
We are looking for a special home for our jawless wonder, Beaker. This sweet boy was found in bad shape in a park in Connecticut and was not claimed. When he arrived to us he was very matted and had urine scalding all over his body. But, after a warm bath and a quick trim, he looked like a new man.

We estimate Beaker to be between 15 and 16 years old. He does not have any teeth and he is also missing his lower jaw. But that definitely doesn't stop this little guy from eating. He has a great appetite and eats easily on his own with an elevated bowl. Beaker weighs just over 10 pounds.

Beaker may be an old man, but he's still active and very spry. He loves exploring the yard and taking short walks. Beaker also tends to fixate on certain dogs and may try to hump/annoy them. Eventually he tires of this and will leave them alone, but it should be expected in a new environment.

Beaker has a few medical issues that we need to point out. He has a grade 4 heart murmur and an echocardiogram showed that he is in stage B1 mitral valve disease. This does not require any heart medications at this time but he will need repeat echocardiograms every 6-9 months. He also has a testicular mass. Due to his age and his heart murmur, we do not want to put him through surgery to neuter him. Chest X-rays were clear so if it is cancer, it has not metastasized. Beaker is also on Denamarin daily for elevated liver values.

This little muppet definitely has a lot going on but it doesn't stop him one bit. He's a sweet and happy boy who really seems to enjoy life, other dogs, and human attention.

To apply to adopt Beaker, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt
