Bea's Story
FOR ADOPTION in southern Ontario: Hi... my name is Bea.

Im only 3 years old, I weigh just 5 pounds, and if Im being honest... I dont understand why Im still waiting.

I dont know what diabetes is. I dont know why some people see that word and decide Im too much. I only know that I love people with my whole heart. When I arrived at my foster home, I didnt waste any time. Within an hour, I had found a lap, curled into a tiny little ball, and fallen asleep. That night, I climbed into bed like Id always belonged there. Because thats who I am. I dont believe strangers stay strangers for very long. I believe every lap is meant to be shared, every blanket is meant to be burrowed under, and every person I meet could be my forever family.

I love racing you to the couch before you can sit down (I usually win). I disappear under blankets until all you can see is a tiny lump. My foster family says Im like a teddy bear that came to life because all I really want is to be as close to my people as possible. Im wonderful with kids—even the tiny humans! Im currently living with a 2-year old, and were doing great. I can go from joyful zoomies to peaceful cuddles in seconds. Ill proudly let you know when someone comes to the door, and I give leash walks my very best effort, even if my little legs think theyre much bigger than they really are.

There is one thing you should know about me. Every day, I need insulin. I dont like the needles, but I trust the people who love me, so I stand still, take a deep breath, and let them help me. Thats what brave little girls do. My diabetes is something I live with but it isnt who I am. Im still happy. I still get excited for breakfast. I still love to play. I still love to snuggle under the blankets. And I still have so much love left to give.

Maybe youre the person who will look past my diagnosis and see me for who I really am, a tiny little dog with a giant heart who just wants a family to call her own.

All I want is a home where I never have to wonder if Ill be loved tomorrow and someone who can provide for my medical needs. I may need a little extra care, but I promise Ill spend every single day showing you that Im worth it. If youre willing to open your heart to a little dog who will love you with everything she has, Im waiting... and I cant wait to finally come home.

Love,

Bea

PS: adoption applications are here: https://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-help/adopt/adoption-application/
