Basil's Story
Basil is a sweet senior boy -- estimated to be 10 years old. He's low energy. He loves sleeping but is also up for short walks (mostly sniffs) too. He is very friendly with all people and dogs but would prefer a quieter, calm home environment. We're not aware of Basil having cat experience but suspect that he would be completely unbothered by feline friends.

He is house trained and crate trained -- though he likely doesn't actually need a crate because he's extremely well behaved. He does enjoy it as his relaxation zone though.

Basil can be fairly independent but also happy to let you know when he's hungry, needs to go outside, or just wants some pets - he always does this with a polite, tiny little whine. We haven't heard him bark once!

Basil came into the shelter in poor condition and underweight. He currently weighs 5.1 pounds but he should be somewhere between 5.5 and 6, so he has a little more to gain. He's a very good eater though! We soak his kibble in water to make it soft since he doesn't have any teeth. They were ALL removed during a recent dental, so his tiny tongue pokes out all the time now.

Basil has a common chronic condition called dry eye, which requires daily eye drops (twice per day). The drops aren't expensive and he's very tolerant of them. He will need regular professional grooming (every 6-8 weeks) to keep his coat in good condition.

Note: we only do adoptions within 2 hours of Atlanta, GA
