Bartholomew's Story

Meet Bartholomew!

Bartholomew is a one-year-old, 40-pound Lab mix with an adorable face, a beautiful coat, and approximately 40 pounds of enthusiasm, wiggles, questionable spatial awareness, and an unreasonable amount of happiness packed into one dog.

Bartholomew has a simple philosophy: he isn't too much. You are just not enough.
Do you want a dog who politely places his head in your lap and waits patiently for pets?

Bartholomew has another approach. He will arrive on your lap like a small, furry tornado with very little advance warning. Personal space? He has heard of it, but has chosen not to participate.

Bartholomew loves people, loves other dogs, and loves to play. He is boisterous, affectionate, and genuinely delighted to be alive. His tail operates independently and appears to have its own weather system, complete with three speeds: happy, happier, and clear the coffee table.

He needs a home that understands that sometimes loving a dog means accepting that your living room may occasionally become a racetrack. Bartholomew does not need a house where someone is clutching their pearls because he came galloping through the room. He needs someone who sees him charging toward them and thinks, “Hell yeah, that's my dog!”

His leash manners are currently nonexistent. As far as Bartholomew is concerned, a leash is simply a piece of equipment humans insist on holding while he heads toward whatever looks interesting. He will need someone willing to work with him on learning how to walk politely.

Because Bartholomew has some leash work ahead of him, a physically fenced yard is required. He needs a safe place where he can run, play, and burn off some of that enthusiasm without relying on his current relationship with a leash.
If you want a quiet little shadow who delicately follows you from room to room, Bartholomew is probably not your guy.

If you want an active, happy dog who will enthusiastically join you for adventures, play with other dogs, make you laugh, and remind you that personal space is wildly overrated, Bartholomew would like to meet you.

And despite all that enthusiasm, this boy does have some manners! He is housetrained and, believe it or not, can be left loose in his foster home while his foster mom is at work. So underneath all those wiggles and questionable decisions about where his body ends, there is a very good boy in there.

Bartholomew is looking for an active family who will appreciate his larger-than-life personality and give him plenty of opportunities for exercise, play, adventure, and continued training.

Come prepared to be loved enthusiastically. Bartholomew doesn't do anything halfway.

Bartholomew is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped.

Apply to meet Bartholomew at www.furfunrescue.org

If you have questions, you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.

Adopters must be within a two-hour drive of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Bartholomew is looking for an indoor home.
Adoption fee $300.

Fur Fun Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our dogs are all in foster homes. We require a completed application prior to meeting one of our dogs. The adoption application is on our website: furfunrescue.org. Once the application is received, we check the veterinarian reference if you have or have had pets. Then we contact you to set up a time to meet the dog. If, after meeting the dog you want to proceed with an adoption, we will run a background check, call personal references, and do a home visit. We always introduce our dog to any current pets. The final step is completing the adoption contract.
