Bart (Snoop) German Shepherd Dog Chicago, IL

Bart (Snoop) was surrendered to a local shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. He is just about a year old and very much still a puppy. Bart is underweight at about 70 pounds and will be a big boy once he fills out. He is a typical GSD that loves to follow his person around. Bart likes playing and chewing his toys along with playing tug. He is intelligent and picks up on new commands quickly. Bart is very playful, and is still learning boundaries. He can be mouthy when being handled, especially around his head. His foster dad is working on teaching him to move away instead of becoming mouthy. Bart would do best in a home with older dog savvy children. He is a strong boy on leash but does well being walked on a harness. Bart is very good in his crate and his adopter should continue to utilize one to give him down time and relax. Training will be necessary for Bart to continuing socializing and work on basic commands. Bart has never lived with other dogs and while he is not dog aggressive, he would do best as an only dog. He is not confident or socialized with other dogs. Bart will thrive in a home willing to provide him mental and physical stimulation - after all German Shepherds are working dogs!
