Bart's Story

One of our compassionate Texas rescuers saved the life of this sweet and so very loving Beagle / American Foxhound mix with hopes of transporting him to Colorado for a wonderful new life.

Bart was relinquished to a scary, high-kill after the only guardian he ever knew passed away at home. Bart was found in the house, mourning the loss of his human mom. Relatives came by to remove Bart from the home where it was suggested by police that they take him home and give him a great rest of life. They refused and dropped Bart off at a high-kill shelter where he was pending euthanasia due to a lack of space.

The irresistible Bart made quite the impression on the shelter staff with his quiet manners and loving greeting for everyone he met. It immediately became clear that he had been dearly loved and cared for by his person. It was a unanimous decision to spare this gorgeous Beagle mix's life. Sweet Bart was removed from the shelter environment and went home with his rescuer who immediately fell in love. How could she not have? This wonderful dog's kindness and open heart are immediately evident to all those who have had the pleasure of meeting him.

Bart loves his walks with his rescuer where he can socialize with other dog-loving walkers. Won't he be perfect for those gorgeous days where he can leisurely meet neighbors for some conversation and awesome petting? He also loves his at-home time that includes periodic hugs, praise and treats that make sweet Bart feel so good about himself.

Bart is such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his positive energy and silly antics. We've seen Bart get an ear to ear grin on his face to match his helicopter wagging tail. He's sweet as can be, loyal and forever by your side when the going gets rocky or for the wonderful time you can share.

Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Bart in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home, or enjoy taking their furry best friend along on their adventures. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a good choice for this people-loving guy. Bart is a perfect take-along guy. He enjoys the car and is very happy riding in the back seat so he can watch the activity going on outside the window..

Bart is at his absolute best with dog-crazy adults. He's much more comfortable with their quiet energy. A walk followed by time on the couch watching a favorite TV show would speak to this sweet dog. He would be overjoyed to be part of a loving and responsible family.

Bart has a stunning coat that is currently shelter-sad. He will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition. A daily salmon oil supplement coupled with 5 star food will keep this guy's hair cottony-soft and shining with excellent health.

Bart has been fully vetted, vaccinated and neutered to support Farfel's commitment to excellent health in our dogs and zero population growth in the canine community.

Our wonderful Bart will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 4/29/2026. If interested in this beautiful and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Bart please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
